Re: So now that Guillit has been shown the door... Not trolling, but I think that it would be interesting to let Cobi take over for the rest of the season, then re-evaluate after the season is over. Or would that be a message to the fans that they have given up on this season?
Re: So now that Guillit has been shown the door... *looks at the calendar* August 11th. My, the MLS Cup final gets earlier and earlier every year. I love people who overreact. Last time I checked, we were still in a playoff spot, and still had Beckham and Donovan and Ruiz and Buddle and Klein and Franklin on the roster. Clearly, we're going to lose every single game from now on, and sink into oblivion.
Re: So now that Guillit has been shown the door... I think they'll go with Cobi for the season, unless a slam dunk contender comes in. Let's win it for Cobi!
Re: So now that Guillit has been shown the door... The direction it was going before this change I would agree. This is great news.
Re: So now that Guillit has been shown the door... Do you think Beckham will have a lot of influence on the next manager? If so, someone from England perhaps? One of his ex Man U buddies? It would be truly L.A. like to go for another big name.
Re: So now that Guillit has been shown the door... Beckham will be the new manager.... In all seriousness the next manager will have to not only be a good football mind, but they will also need to be able to scout cheap talent. They wont be able to throw $ at talent like a sailor on shore leave, so i'd say anyone associated with ManU is out
Re: So now that Guillit has been shown the door... Two Words: Cobi Jones One need not look any further than the 2005 MLS Cup Run and the fact that the Head Coach let the veterans (Jones, Donovan) take control of the team. He was born to run. AEG let it be.
Re: New Coach Thread: Now that Guillit has been shown the door... I love Cobi. But, if it were my call, I would bring back Cienfuegos. He actually has some coaching experience, and would bring back some style and connections with the glory years.
Re: New Coach Thread: Now that Guillit has been shown the door... Cadaver, I think what you said is a great choice. He has MLS experience, knows the midfield and is familiar with the South American scene. I think the person most affected by Gullit leaving is Buddle. I really believe that Ruud helped Buddle become a better striker. What happened with the other guys, I don't know but from the previous quotes between LD and Ruud, it didn't seem that they got along. Not everyone liked Ruud's style of communication.
Re: New Coach Thread: Now that Guillit has been shown the door... Paging Bruce Arena, paging Bruce Arena.
Re: So now that Guillit has been shown the door... I thought of Beckham too... What is Paul Bravo's job, if not to scout cheap talent? EDIT: That was a real question, not a remark. How the roles are divided in the Galaxy staff is a mystery for me.
Re: New Coach Thread: Now that Guillit has been shown the door... How about 'Big Sam' Allardyce? He's a free agent after being dropped by Newcastle United. He is a very good manager despite the Newcastle episode and has rested for months now and would be looking for a new challenge. He has extensive knowledge of european talent and with a few key signings could inject some explosion in to your faltering season. I know the MLS is trying to bring itself to a level to be able to compete with european leagues, but you should invest, like many top european teams, in two or three emerging talents from europe and develop that talent and use it as a spring board. Once your up there with the EPL and La liga you can attract more talent, the possibilities are endless! IMO the EPL and MLS should have some sort of affiliation where both our youngsters can go on season long loans to get experience of 1st or 2nd team football. What do you think? *Arsenal til I die, or til the wife does *
Re: New Coach Thread: Now that Guillit has been shown the door... I would love to see Mauricio Cienfuegos come back to be the Asst coach for the Galaxy
Re: New Coach Thread: Now that Guillit has been shown the door... I'm afraid he's doing his thing in El Salvador. I believe he's coaching a team in the Salvadorian league
Re: New Coach Thread: Now that Guillit has been shown the door... no cobi, one day maybe, but the way this organization chews people up and spits them out... cobi doesn't deserve that. cienfuegos. i know he's an emotional favorite, but he's not exactly done well in his first coaching gig. his team finished 8th out of 10 in the clasura and are currently sitting 10th out of 10 with a three losses in three games.
Re: New Coach Thread: Now that Guillit has been shown the door... And for baseless, stupid and eurosnob coach suggestions from Europe, here for fun is what Italy can offer: Roberto Donadoni (former clubs: Livorno, Italy NT at least) Plusses: knows MLS, international experience, also club coaching experience - nothing remarkable but nothing as bad as Gullit's previous stints. Usually loved by his players, both at club and NT level. Minuses: probably asks for a high salary, hopes for a European bench. Not so charismatic. Gianluca Vialli (Chelsea) Plusses: already replaced Gullit once (Chelsea, as a player), is charismatic, knows English, knows that soccer is different in different parts of the world (The Italian Job anyone?). Minuses: no experience of MLS, many years since he last coached, likes his job on TV. Walter Zenga (many Eastern European, Catania) Plusses: played and/or (?) coached in MLS, international experience, specialized in smaller championships (Romania, Serbia), good results, charismatic Minuses: not so much experience at the highest level, is currently coaching another team (but as soon as results will be bad he'll get fired, as is customary in Italy).

Re: New Coach Thread: Now that Guillit has been shown the door... What quotes would those be? Every quote I've heard from Donovan re: Ruud was that "Ruud is European, he pushed me and it's good for me, I respect him." Quotes from Ruud were: "he can offer more, we ask him to do more; Donovan has improved for us; Donovan was excellent today." I got the impression Ruud pushed LD and LD responded favorably to it. I never got the impression that they didn't get along. But maybe I haven't read all the quotes.

Re: New Coach Thread: Now that Guillit has been shown the door... The Galaxy front office and ownership are complete and absolute utter joke.
