🚨 La Federación Colombiana de Fútbol le ofrecerá la renovación a Néstor Lorenzo (60) y dependerá del argentino si acepta las condiciones para su continuidad 🤐🇨🇴 pic.twitter.com/ycwl9F7mRg— Pipe Sierra (@PSierraR) July 9, 2026 Well that was fast
I really believe he took us as far as he could. Cordoba injured, Suarez underperforming. We had nowhere near as strong squad and bench as we did 2014. Hopefully we will one day but it's hard. We had bench players who played in the strongest leagues in Europe. Still our record is good. Only received 1 goal and that was a GK blooper.
Lorenzo is flawed, there are better coaches out there in the world for sure but you have to ask yourself if you trust the federation to secure a better coach or one who will work out and fit with our players. The answer for me is a clear no I don't trust the federation, I have problems with Lorenzo but the hardest part about defining a style and effective approach to the game is very good, he can improve in the other areas or get help from an assistant in those areas. Based on how he got us playing in a difficult position for the World Cup he should stay with caveats, because the odds on an improvement are and the chance for him to get better are a lot higher.
If it was him or Osorio I prefer him but i have my concerns with his relationship with some players specially if its true that he was disrespectful with some of them. I just hope James retires and leaves the team alone.
I haven't thought too much about it, Gallardo would be the guy in the realm of being gettable outside of that there's a lot of good coaches out there but not sure we should even consider guys outside of South American soccer who are Spanish speakers, no Colombian coaches I can think of.
What I do like about Gallardo, even though I doubt he'll come, is that at least he won't be the Fed's lapdog on who to play. That to me is the underlying issue more than anything. Which is why I said Lorenzo needs to learn from this experience if he stays, because he's not a bad coach, but he needs to limit those restrictions that are holding him back.
Agree. I am curious/concerned on whether he will finally leverage Arias properly as I think for the immediate Copa 28 challenge it's key to have that settled and I think Puerta's emergence gives us an opportunity to play in a more productive system as we let James walk into the sunset.
He'd be great for me. Has developed Colombian talents, plays progressive but productive football. Coming off a rough exit at River but feels akin to Klopp leaving Dortmund when he did, just needs sending new.
I think he would just stick with J Arias in the middle like he has since the fall of 2023. Unless he plays someone like Deossa.
I mean have him run the offense as a modern 10, along with Puerta, and play an actual wing across from Lucho.
I do not think he will go that route. Hopefully he experiments but I think it is more likely he sticks with Carrascal. And slowly acclimates the newer guys like Barrera, Rengifo, Rojas.

There are reports that National teams in Europe and the Middle East are ready to offer Lorenzo a job once his contract is done officially after July 31.

Don Carlo signed for Brazil long term, I think it may be his last ever job. Regardless, people here cry about the way Lorenzo plays, people really won't like Carlo. Zidane is very much a snob, he thinks he completed football after winning his CL's with Madrid all those years ago, France managed to convince him and will be taking over now after this tournament
I was joking. I don’t think we’ll get either. Whoever is running the show, I hope they can take things to a higher level for 26-30
Nottingham Forest just hired Oliver Glasner... so there goes that rumor. 1st time around at River Gallardo !! FK YES !!! 2nd time around fk no... so we should just keep Lorenzo. His contract is till Copa America if he does well we keep him until 2030 WC (when our Adidas contract expires)
