I ve come to the the 10s are ok if we use them in properly. Emery uses 2 or 3 in his system at Villa (Tielemans, Rogers and McGinn) - he just expects them to defend too. Id love to see Samu Martinez in four or five years playing as a 10... And putting in a shift too. It's why I hope Lorenzo uses Arias at 10.
Lorenzo brings us the a last 8 and we lost to Argentina? You don't think we keep him? I just don't see where Lorenzo can go other than the Saudi league? Maybe coach Mexico? Yet they pay less than we do and are probably promoting Rafa Marquez to their #1. I am not saying I want to keep Lorenzo. Just don't get the we firing him after the WC without the games being played. Like people said he drops James Playings Arias a #10 with a Winger in his place or maybe Cucho that might work. It just seems too late to do this. Dropping Lorenzo for Bielsa to me makes no sense. Even Scaloni who I don't think is a good coach he just is lucky enough to have Messi and the fact we shit our pants at the Copa America final.
There’s just too much smoke about Boca being interested in Lorenzo and the Colombian Federation being interested in foreigners like the Crystal Palace manger. Lot’s of Colombian media rumors that they want to part ways. I think Lorenzo is probably gone no matter what.
There is like more than a zero chance we get Glasner from Crystal Palace, but that would be awesome. I've seen enough on Lorenzo, he's not gonna take us much further he has no plan b past his initial plan and implementation which was actually really great but teams caught on and he doesn't have anything else.
he is unemployed they replaced him and no better team has named him. Tho I would assume with his two cup wins Tottenham of a team with ambition would try to bring him on
There is a small chance but he has managed Santos Borre, Lerma and Munoz so you never know. Point is, the smoke about finding a new manager is too much for me to think Lorenzo has a high chance of staying, No matter how deep of a run we go on.
I cant imagine Glasner in B/Quilla taking orders from some rando official.. language barriers is another thing. Portugal's manager is someone i would look at. Whoever it is i think its time to demand a Copa America title
Need to take the L on this, I still like Bielsa's tactical ideas but he's a terrible man manager and not to be trusted. Don't think he's fully to blame for Uruguay but he's too volatile, also I have to say that Lorenzo has got us playing really well and way more confident than the last 2 years, we are truly back to the COPA form and the fact he has been able to recreate that does mean he has to be considered to continue. I still think we need to get the young guys in and move on from James and Quintero as starters, and they are still useful but if its Lorenzo or anyone else we need to have an eye on the next world cup and this 4 year cycle needs to get new guys in early and comfortable.
We need to be careful with him though, part of me thinks he will insist with guys that will be past it and refuse to bring in the new generation.
Yeah we have to renew and get the new guys 100%. Pekerman had this problem too, you get used to your guys and don't give the new guys enough chances. I'd hope the federation would get an agreement on that, we have a lot of good players coming through and if we want to do something in 2030 these guys need to be given the reigns.
Do we not resign Lorenzo? This game I feel he was really bad with subs. He was great in the other games. I am ok with him staying as long as no more #10s and never ever calls up Carrascal or Campaz ever again.
think Mexico ends up picking him up. They will pay 2x more than us and really need a new coach. Or he goes to Peru/Chile/Paraguay feel we get Paraguays coach. It arias had won we nacional I think he would have been the super cheap alternative
He should stay we are not as talented as people think and he got the tactics right players not finishing is not on him
It's not a refusal of a new generation, we're lacking a new generation. Almost everyone that has been brought on have failed, except Puerta. Yaser failed, Duran Failed...I don't even know what more players that have been neglegted. To me it seems like as soon as someone half-succeeds in europe Lorenzo immediately calls them. Or has he missed someone?
The u teams seem to have some talent start incorporating them. An orozco Puerta duo could be incredible
yea we need a coach who is willing to play younger players. Villareal should have been given at least 1 friendly look. He basically called the same 26 guys for Copa america till the WC some of the new guys he was forced to call for injuries ending up winning their spots. bigger call ups. Some of you laugh and say call 1000.. well he should be scouting every possible colombian player not wait till the last moment when they already picked Spain.
Teams don’t get better by involving their 100th 200th best player There is no hidden super talent not even Puerta, we all wanted him involved since he had that breakout tournament just as we want some of the new young players like Orozco doesn’t mean you start calling 100 players that are in no way shape or form better than the ones in front of them hoping you find in a worse player a solution
The capacity of the player comes first. The player must earn their place. Of course if we had some wonderkid doing well in europe I don't doubt at all that he'd be called up regardless of his age. It will always be easier to play for the Colombian NT than a european side, unless it's iceland or something.
