Are we going to have any new chants for 2009 or are we going to hear the same gooooo ReAL Salt Lake and RSL...RSL...RSL chants? Is the FO willing to help us out with any new ideas that we might come up with? I hope we can come up with something new this upcoming season. What are your thoughts or ideas?

Problem is we have a lot of turn over with fans. Simply put between new ppl coming in and the diversity among our Supporters clubs, the "Go RSL" chants are the only ones we can do fairly well as a group.

Just keep trying, we'll get there.

To the tune of "Mr Postman".

Ah Ah Ah you hit the post man!
Please please don't hit the post man!
You hit the post man, look at me!
You hit the post man, and I'm pissed you see!
Oh oh oh, don't hit the post man!

There Must be some goals today.
From that forward who gets all the pay.
Don't hit the post man, let alone three.
Put in between them, and I'll start to scream!

(It took me 3 minutes to come up with these, so give me a break.)

All I can say is, we have a nice new stadium with a nice new PA system. There's no better way to get the crowd into it than to have the announcer get it started. When I was in Portugal the announcer started most of the chants over the PA system.

how about saying REAL after every completed pass. I know in the couple of friendlies that we have been the minority, something like this seemed to infuse the team with energy, while frustrating the other team (Real) more.

We need a Yura cheer to remember the big goals he scored last year late in the season, kind of like they do in Toronto to remember their first goal scored.

For some reason I have thought about this stadium chant topic quite a bit over the years. The only thing I can think of is to have an easy song that everybody knows with or without lyrics changed. Whatever it is, it has to be something easy that everybody can pick up on quickly. I'm also open to the stadium screen or PA announcer having something to do with beginning the chants. I also liked it when the portions of the stadium each took a letter in R-S-L. We should do something like that at the Rio (maybe have both of the ends take the same letter and each side take one letter). Except when you do it, you need to actually have somebody on the field or something like that holding up a giant sign with the letter on it. That one would really take off, IMO. There is nothing cooler to me than being in Cougar Stadium when that is going on.

Doesn't the north end (thanks to Section 26) already do this? It would be fairly easy to coordinate something like this if fans in each side were notified what was going on.

I kinda like the idea of an RSL version of the Bouncy.

We've thought of a few up here in Idaho for RSL. They're mainly just ripped off from EPL sides. Not all videos are suitable for work.

Credit to Liverpool's "Ra-ra-ra...fa Benitez" to the tune of "La Bamba"[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_XBTnK5diA"]YouTube - Rafa benitez lala bamba Taksim Square Istanbul Liverpool FC[/ame]
    Mo-mo-mo-mo-mo-mo-Morales!
    Mo-mo-mo-mo-mo-mo-Morales!
    Javi Morales
    Javi Morales
    Javi Morales
    Ja-vi Morales
    Ja-vi Morales

For Olave, from Man Utd's Vidic song "R" rated - [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMpkt_Y9Vck"]YouTube - he comes from serbia[/ame]
    Olave wo-ah
    Olave wo-ah
    He's from Columbia
    He'll ****ing murder ya!

Also from MUFC, their Hargreaves song changed to Beckerman to the tune of "I Love You Baby!" [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yr83UdrBizQ"]YouTube - Owen Hargreaves song[/ame]
Kyle Beckerman, you're the love of my life
Kyle Beckerman, I'd let you shag my wife
Kyle Beckerman, I want dreadlocks too

Older Ronaldo song (I've heard it sung for other players too at different clubs) that could be used for Will Johnson - PG-13 [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GHqFT-TehQ"]YouTube - United vs Watford - Ronaldo Song[/ame]
    He plays on the left
    He plays on the right
    That boy Will Johnson
Makes (insert opponent's name) look sh*te

Yura Movsisyan's could be used in a Karma Chameleon song ("R" rated video) [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf5Ezq2MsZk"]YouTube - Villa fans singing Gabby Agbonlahor[/ame]
Yura, Yura, Yura, Yura, Yura Movsisyan
    Movsisyan
    Movsisy-an

And we had this one worked out last year for our midfield, but Kovalenko's gone now. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBYyKegNWBk"]YouTube - Liverpool fans Best Midfield in the world[/ame]
    Wooo-aah
We've got the best midfield in the world
    We've got Kyle Beckerman
    Andy Williams
Morales and Kovalenko (I'm sure it would sound ok if "Will Johnson" was subbed in for "Kovalenko")

I think it'd be sweet somebody more creative than I came up with a Salt Lake Alouette like Chelsea's, but it'd be a tall order to get everybody on the same page with that one. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RljSfWVdHhw"]YouTube - Chelsea Alouette - Canp Nou[/ame]

Sloop Jon B by FC United would sound good as well, but again it would be tougher to pull off. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j941psnNiAI&feature=related"]YouTube - FC United of Manchester mainstand-Sloop John B vs Quorn 1[/ame]

    Makes Columbus look shite

    That sounds fantastic great already!

The only way this one works is if their is lyrics on people's seats. But its fun to play with nonetheless.
A little bit of Yura in our lives
A little bit of Johnson down the sides
A little bit of Beckerman is what we
    need
A little bit of Findley with his speed
A little bit of Olave in Defense
A little bit of Javi he's immense
A little bit of Singing from the fans
A little bit of Williams he's our man

Yura Movsisyan's could be used in a Karma Chameleon song:

Yura, Yura, Yura, Yura, Yura Movsisyan
    Movsisyan
    Movsisy-an

That one gets my vote. It's easy and pretty much everyone knows the tune.

I like this one too (I'm sure we can come up with a non-explative):

Older Ronaldo song (I've heard it sung for other players too at different clubs) that could be used for Will Johnson

    He plays on the left
    He plays on the right
    That boy Will Johnson
Makes (insert opponent's name) look sh*te

I can think of a lot of things cooler. Like grass, rocks, trees, infomercials, root canals... Well you get the point.

We want to try this one as a stadium song this year...It's definitely something the RCB will be singing. I'm putting it out there so you can join in if you're inclined...

This could be outstanding with the whole south end singing it...let alone the whole stadium

So I have been thinking about this more and I have come up with something. Some may think it is taking it too far or just lame, but here it is: I think the supportors groups should come up with three or four specific chants per game. They should figure out at what time in the game (30th minute, 75th minute, etc.) they will have these specific cheers (at least for a while until people get the hang of the chants). Then they should have the F.O. help them pass out sheets before the game at the gates that have the cheers (including words) and times during the match they will be done. It is my opinion that most everybody in the stadium would participate in chants, they just need to know what they are. Heck, we are really still learning to be soccer fans with our own team, aren't we? I believe this would help with our fan base become more familiar with the practice of chanting as well as provide an even more killer atmosphere in the stadium.

    Comments?
