I saw EJ play some last summer for the Burn. Most notably in an Open Cup match against the Rapids. I believe he played the whole game. He looked marvelous at times. Other times, he looked like an 18 year old with alot of talent but not sure what to do w/ it.

Nice move by Jeff plugging a good cause.

Even better move if most of us on BigSoccer contribute a buck or two.

I have to agree with Point 2 - these all white away strips are just plain boring.

As for the Man U tour - I won't give Man U a nickel (though I did buy a couple trinkets in the Man U store in Singapore last week for my glory hunting friends) but I might watch a game or two of theirs this summer as long as it doesn't conflict with an MLS game. "Anything that brings soccer to the attention of the American public is good."

Though I am still bummed MLS and Man U couldn't get a game together. That's the only thing that bugs me about this thing. Heck - Man U played Singapore teams a couple summers ago.

And we're waiting for Vaca and EJ to step it ourselves.

Good luck with that marathon. One was more than enough for me.

    4. If you haven’t been checking out the latest development’s on the Galaxy’s Home Depot Center, make sure you head to www.lagalaxy.com from time to time. Yeah, the FieldTurf Saga continues to get me down, but as an eternal optimist, I can’t help but think the folks in LA are going to get the ball rolling in the right direction when the Depot opens up.

Is the Home Depot Center going to have FieldTurf? Please no...

Also, I won't go see ManU because they are not playing a MLS Team.

Lastly, I agree with the NE Press Coverage. They have a lot of coverage on the team.

No. Jeff was referring to the other teams (Chi, Dal, and NY) that will be using Field Turf in 2003. The LA is going in the right direction.

Gotta say I had the same reaction, though.

Since we're all talking about fields, I just wanted to comment on the excellence of some team fielf management in fixing the lines between American and football and soccer games. At the MLS Cup '03, for example, the football lines were virtually invisible, even though there had been a Patriots game at the Big Razor only 6 days prior. I just wanted to commend the MLS field crews for their hard work in keeping the fields soccer-appropriate, and not a blatant hybrid.

    10. New York Times reporter Jack Bell writes today that MLS and Fox Sports World are nearing agreement on a deal that would enable the cable channel to broadcast a league game on Saturday nights and a 30-minute highlight show focusing on M.L.S.

-Anyone have a link to this article? I've been searching on NY Times Online and can't find it. Has it been posted online?

    Thanks,

Would be great if Fox Sports World carried a Saturday MLS match-up. Would be even better if I could get the channel! :( I do get Telefutura and Univision so that's something...although Telemundo would have been nice for US v Jamaica. Time for another call to the cable company...

Happy that Boston reporters went to Brazil to cover the Revs. As far as coverage 365 days a year...I have to respectfully disagree with that. I will say that print media covers the team better than broadcast media. I think coverage has been better in the last 6-7 months than it ever was. BigSoccer poster Magpie started a grassroots marketing thread urging all BigSoccer Revs fans to call/email/write the local media and get the team covered during the race for the playoffs and run to MLS Cup '02. His efforts (along with those of other BS posters that followed his lead) had a lot to do with the coverage the Revs had last season. I'll speak for all Revs fans here when I say I hope it continues. I hope all MLS teams can get that kind of coverage.

There would never be a need in California for that stuff. We grow the best grass around. Don't listen to those Hawaiians who say otherwise!

I just watched the virtual tour that is linked on the LA Galaxy web site and it looks like there won't be any seating behind one of the goals. As cool as the stadium will be I think that not having seating behind one of the goals is a real disappointment.

Thanks. Sad thing is I looked at that article earlier but stopped reading just before the FSW part because I thought that HUGE add in the middle of the article was the end. DOH!

There will be seating there. This year it will be used as needed with temp seating then at a future date, permanent seating will be there bringing the capacity to the advertised 27K.. It will be about 24K this year.

of course you weren't... but no one wants to hear it... landon has succeeded and has no reason to continue to push it

they'd much rather landon run away from trying to improve his game to earning more money hear because u.s. companies are too scared to do the biggere endorsements with soccer players in europe

landon can cry all he wants about taking less money, but it's all ************************... hide your ass, little boy

keep crying at national games when people defend you out of games... no reason to play at a higher level on a consistent basis than argentina's b team

it's not like we want to improve, now is it?

I knew you would jump on this one. You have a one-track mind when it comes to this kid. He can do absolutely nothing right in your mind. By all accounts, Donovan got into this because he loves the game of soccer, not to prove anything to anybody. That's apparently why he still plays. I choose to take the higher ground and give the kid the benefit of the doubt. I feel he only had to prove to himself that he could play at that level - and he did that IMO at the World Cup. When he came back from Germany at age 19 it sounds like he had doubt about himself - and set out to prove to himself that he could do it. He doesn't play for everyone else - he plays for himself. He is still motivated and wants to improve and there are many ways to do that. Each player has a different personality and brings different things to the game and develops in different ways. Funny how you are so selective in your comments about LD and only jump on the criticisms. What about Grant Wahl's article in which LD explained why he was "crying" (your words) in the Argentina game. He had a method to his madness, and it may or may not have worked. But he's not stupid, he knows what he's doing and I give him the benefit of the doubt to know himself enough to know what it takes for him to develop.

i prefer to listen and read everything this guy has said and done on the matter

and he has most definitely whined like a little baby... or do you really think he was at bayer long enough to really be left out of the senior side long enough to say he wasn't going to get a chance? you have to be 18 or 19 to play in the bundesliga, and he was also globe trotting with our youth side... not really there all the time... he ran home every chance he had

expect him to play his entire career in mls... it's companies like gatorade (pepsi) and nike that should be utterly ashamed with promoting this guy's effots to make himself into an inferior athlete... i've never understood the concept that a television camera cannot air a guy like reyna, but it can donovan

he had no method in that argentina game... he lost it... look at his size and the style of player he is... he's not a bruiser, didn't you see the argie guy cracking up when ld lost his cool?

he's got talent and he also has the undying legions, such as yourself.... he most definitely lost it in the argie game, and bradley hit the nail on the head by questioning donovan's saying he has proven it... that gives you a big clue as to what kind of rocks this guy has, or rather the lack there of... is it time now for his daddie to show up?

Landon is 20 right now, he'll head back to Europe when he is 22. Nothing wrong with that.

if he were to go at 22

i'd expect he will be there for the confed cup this year, the world cup in 06, and maybe a friendly or two... other than that, i could only see him going for a trip when he is retired

I haven't read the rest of the thread from this point, but I'm predicting that things go swiftly downhill from here.
