Just a tip if you're using Opera to visit this site: with the zoom button (the eye with 100% in the dropdown menu) change it to 110%. Text becomes more readable, less white space, messages become a little bit wider.
I don't so much mind little visual oddities like that. But whats up w/ having a message board website that doesn't show the most recent post? Is this what all the "oh noes you spoiled the game I taped by posting about it on a soccer related website I'm a tard" gripes have come to?
How might one change the skin. I can't find how to change them with this ghey (not sure if I said that before) new set up. It's like a visual abortion.
I cannot find anything, hard to see my threads, a big step down. Please bring back the old one. Thank you.
I think i tend to agree with the posts i've seen. I prefer the old basic defualt background to the new one. Is there anyway to get it all back to how it was???
Ok, so there are learning costs with the new system. I don't even know the system yet, but I am open to trying to learn it. One thing I must insist on is; yellow. Where the hell is my yellow backdrop? I can barely read this stuff with a white backdrop. Yellow is product identity with BS, get it back. So form matters with function. Cheers, Taylor
I second this. The front page roll of most recent posts was/is probably my favorite feature of Bigsoccer as it allows quick access to topics you may not have otherwise known to look for. Thanks.
Cheers for increasing the font size, that's much less harsh imho. I don't mind the black on white too much though it's hard to beat the very pale blue background that is used in other places on the site.
I don't know if I'm a complete dork or if things were just taking hours to display, but when I clicked on the Customer Service page from 'My BigSoccer', I saw nothing but the the names and avatars for two posters. A few more attempts and I got some threads. Pretty unsettling, I must say.
Although I suspect that I will be dismissed as another who just doesn't like change, allow me to add my voices which see this redesign as a major step backwards for the site. Among the problems: 1. Last 20 posts This is the biggest problem from my view. When coming here, I would check the MLS page to see those last posts to get a quick view of what was going on in the other team forums besides RBNY. When something major occurs, like the recent DC stadium news, this was the way to find out quickly without waiting to see if someone created a new post in the N&A forum. Now I suppose that we are all supposed to click each team link individually to see what is going on. No thanks. I don't have time to regularly make up for that major loss of functionality. 2. Kicks I understand that Huss or those around him want to create a soccer Digg, but the universal feedback for months should make clear that the community here does not want it. Since posts that don't continue to receive replies sink to the bottom, it is completely unneccesary. Making the kick button bigger and more obtrusive will just make it more objectionable to the majority on here. And it will still not be used. The very fact that it is being forced down our throats in such a fashion almost guarantees an equally strong reaction against it. 3. Drop down menus The drop down menus were very convenient and easy to use. And so, of course, they had to go as well. 4. Colors It has been said enough by the others here, but it looks horrible. The mid-90s comparisons are spot on. While Huss can make any changes to this site that he likes, the success of BigSoccer is due to the community of users that has formed here over the years. And it is clear that the community hates these changes not due to some innate conservatism but because they make this site far less functional than it was before. And arrogant replies such as "people whine about every change" or "we have to keep changing to evolve", which do not reply to the actual critiques of the changes or use a tone that seems to talk down to those who "don't get it" will not make things better.
Actually, it is a bug that the "Next" button shows up on the last page of a thread. The next arrow does not show on the last page using the MLSnet skins. 2-0
Images worked fine in the alternate skins up until late yesterday afternoon. Fix one, break one. Kudos to Jesse and company for the major effort. I know that they will get it mostly right in the long run.
I reckon that was it. I don't know how I got in Kicks mode, nor do I know how I managed to escape from it. Basically, I like to kick those damn kicks out of the ballpark.
I'm using the Revolution skin just because it's the only one that doesn't burn holes in my eyes. Why is the club indicator not used on the MLS skins?
No one reads Adobe documents on screen for long and almost every single version of word I've used has large grey boxes on the left and right of the text because reading it otherwise for hours straight starts to hurt.
Hey - you know what? Those three inches of white space on the standard skin could be used, for you know, things like showing posts and stuff? Overall, it's terrible. How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways. 1) All white page is unattractive. Reminds me of all those boring documents and emails I read at work. 2) Standard skin wastes significant portions of real estate by not using the full screen. Is there a way to fix this? 3) Kicks - useless clutter. 4) DCU skin - better use of skin real estate. But - and this is huge for me - requires you to go to a different page to see 'My BigSoccer.' 5) Go to Main page and click on 'My BigSoccer.' Click on a forum link from there and you get nothing but two posters' avatars. I guess that is the Kicks version, but what the hell I am supposed to be seeing? Why is that the default? What is the asterisked out curse word point? Johnny Quest - please address that in your explanation post.
