I'd like to revisit this outside of the regular beer thread (so I can poll it). What would you like to see served outside of what is there currently and that is a realistic possibility (Wvestleren just ain't gonna happen). Pick three from the list. If "Other" please say which one.
The return of Foggy Bottom Ale served in the big cups they had before the sodding baseball crap. That or someone actually working the Guinness/Harp stand.
Smithwicks Boddingtons Majic Hat #9 Tetley's English Ale Something GOOD....I'm tired of the Mass produced American Beer
Foggy Bottom is out of business. The Guinness stand was working at the last game (no Smithwicks mind). Some notes. I focused on local/regional for choices, but I can see some bigger micros that would be desireable (Stone, Allagash, Magic Hat, etc.). There are some seemingly good local choices I left off (Clay Pipe, Wyerbacher, etc.) because the focus almost solely on nuclear strength beers which is just not gonna fly. I don't know if the Rock Bottom or Cap City groups have off site service, but I know Gordon Biersch does in some locales. Fordham & Old Dominion are the same company. Flying Dog, though a "Denver" company brews in Frederick.
FWIW I chose Victory Gordon Biersch Troegs (though it was a toss up with this and DFH). Just for reference what we currently have at RFK is (correct me where wrong): B/M/C (the big three) Heineken Corona Stella Artois Pilsner Bare Knuckle Stout (AB Product) Grolsch Lager Bass Ale Guinness Stout Harp Lager Smithwicks (it still has it's spot but wasn't on last game) Sierra Nevada Draught Do I recall that Blue Moon (Coors) is somewhere out there?
I've had a goodly portion of the Bells line up. Oberon and Two Hearted would be good candidates. While taste is first, personally I'd be for giving the nod to someone closer to home.
come on people, how a bout a summer beer like a Hefe or Belgian White? most of our season is in the spring and summer seasons.
Those are fine, fine beers. With the first two the imminent death of a goodly portion of the drinkers due to stratospheric b.a.l.'s would be a danger. Then again danger is my middle name.
In no particular order: - Dogfish Head: the 90 minute IPA is ridiculously good. - Old Dominion: local, reliably OK - Brooklyn: the brown and weiss beers are pretty good. I tried to keep it local, but Wild Goose just doesn't do it for me; tastes like alka-seltzer.
I brought a keg of Gordon Biersch's Alt Bier to a game last year. It didn't last long (then again I was drinking out of my liter mug). I used to work at the DC store, but the problem is GB is corporate. Even though the brewer for the DC store (who also is the regional brewer) loves me and was a few years ago a SE, it would take a lot to get some off site service, I'm sure.
National Beer, National Beer, You'll like the taste of National Beer It's from the land of pleasant living We bring you National Beer.
I note that no one voted "selection is fine now". OD and DFH are leading and seem the most logical choices. I'd be well pleased to sup 60 Minute during the dog days of summer. I'm still having a hard time accepting the post Anheuser Busch Old Dominion, but if it was at the games, just like the Foggy Bottom, I'd drink it.
Dominion (especially their Oak Barrel Stout - they still make it, post A-B) DFH Gordon Biersch But I only drink that stuff when I can't get any Richard's Wild Irish Rose!
