    Hey all,

The new Barca website is supposed to be launching in September, which I assumed to be today.

    But it is no different.

Can anybody give me any information on whats happening please?

    Thanks

Take the date they said and add at least 2 months to it. The website might be ready then.

Yeah the site is is/has been really lacking in somequality content ever since I started visiting it years ago. Love ths historical info and all, but the current team info is mediocre.

Lets put toegther a wish list for new features!

    1) Maybe since we lost our PPV in the states we can get the goals posted ??? really this is all i want...feel free t oadd other items!

    Better merchandising

More user-friendly and easy to navigate.

More in-depth history of players, listed by season or perhaps decade.

Taking the picture of Rivaldo off the team page would be a start!

Hopefully "The Mister" in charge of the FCB website has been checking out some sites like juventus.com or inter.it-- both have more than enough news and photos, although they are a bit tough to navigate at first.

Goal footage would be good but I'd rather have an audio feed of the actual matches, even if it is in Spanish. Really there's no excuse not to have both.

The site could be a big outreach tool for them if they wanted to do it that way (penya listings, etc.). It just seems like an obvious opportunity to me, but perhaps they want to reach out to their fan base in other ways. Juanele is right- they'll probably launch this thing around the winter break.
Maybe they loaned out the webmaster to another team. ha ha.

    I'm getting excited.

I've been doing freelance work for the past few months but start a full time job on 1st October- which gives me just one weekend to spend on the new website. Had it been the 1st September i'd have had a whole month!

The flash business will certainly make the site even slower on my computer though!

Well the site was supposed to launch today....but............nada

It is so slow and laden with flash, which comes across slow at work (T1) and at Home (Cable modem).

Hmmm....I cant wait for this so I can sign up and get webcasted games and or audio, goal footage etc....

Maybe tomorrow in tiem for the fight with Betis

    Mario, thanks old son!

I'm angry, they have the nerve to advertise it with a f_cking COUNTDOWN to 12pm GMT today (friday) and as you say, absolutely nothing.

I'm real p*ssed off. I start work on monday and i bet it wont be available til monday afternoon because the lazy b*stards won't bother working on it over the weekend.

You're forgetting that the site is being designed on Spanish time.

I'm putting my money on the second week in October. I hope I'm wrong and it goes live earlier though.

    Not available in English yet?

Bloody hell, that'll be at least 3 weeks then!

I'm having second thoughts about forming a penya now!

At first glance, the 'news' doesn't appear to be any more interesting than it was on the old site either.

Not that I'd want to read a bunch of stories about the kicking they received on Saturday, mind you, but some goal footage would be nice.

The first sign of trouble: when you see Gaspart's photo on the home page! ;)

  16. THE WEB SITE IS CRAP , WORST THEN BEFORE AND THESE ****** CATALANES LAUNCHED IT IN CATALAN , WHAT COUNTRY IS Barça in? ESPAÑA?

*Edited by PMOliu - Not that it was a curse word or something generically offensive, but in this case.... my apologies if I am being like a Fascist or Falange, or like the Generalisimo... but personally, I don't like being called stupid.

Some would argue that Barcelona is not in Spain, but in Catalunya.

Really? Imagine that a web site launched in the local language of the team and fans...this is outrageous!

  20. HEY , THE NATIONAL LANGUAGE IS CASTELLANO.

Hey Alianza... relax. I am not in the mood to read loud posts. Comprendes?

As far as a national language is concerned, I think you might want to check up on the nuances and subtleties that make Spain what it is today. Because the country is set up as a collection of autonomies, it is the autonomies that have the control of the local language. Hence, in Catalunya, everything is in Spanish and Catalan.

First of all, leave the "Idiot" comments out.

Having lived and worked in Barcelona I am intimately familair with the region, and believe it or not...the majority of the local fans speak Catalan.

I am not asking you to agree with it...just accept it.

    F***, what happened here?

Mexico is a separate country to America

Ireland, Wales and Scotland are separate countries to England.

Catalunya is a separate country to Spain.

I respect the fact that they are using Catalan language, but as a worldwide club they should have it available in Spanish and English too.

They will have it in both English and Spanish soon, but my guess is that they were getting pressured to get the new site up and running by the people paying the bills...and they were way behind because they had been smoking way too much chocolate and said....

"Shite, we got to put something up"

"Well, what is we just throw up the one that is furthest along?"

"Yeah ... we both speak catalan all day..let's put that one up"

And they will eventually get the other stuff up...when they are ready ;)

    NEW barcelona site

The new Barcelona site was launched last friday and is much better than the old one. One small problem is that it is only in Catalan, who knows why, but I am sure that soon enough there will be in English and Spanish like in the old versions.
My thumbs up for this new site.

    Check it out
