Didn't see this mentioned anywhere else... http://espn.go.com/soccer/news/2002/1216/1477780.html "Bruce Arena is ready to announce his new deal to coach the U.S. national soccer team. Arena led the United States to the World Cup quarterfinals last summer, and since July he has said he intended to remain as coach. The U.S. Soccer Federation said Monday it was scheduling an announcement for Tuesday by conference call. Arena's previous contract, agreed to in October 1998 following the Americans' last-place finish at the 1998 tournament, runs through this month."
And from ESPN.com: http://espn.go.com/soccer/news/2002/1216/1477780.html "Arena would have considered offers from English clubs, but none were made. ``In all honesty, I don't think there's that kind of respect for American managers and American players in England,'' he said." ---------------------- Let's all give a big thank you to the Eurosnobs, for once.
Hell Yeessss. Now it's time to finalize the 2003 schedule and get things moving so we're ready to start 2003 in full swing. Let's hope Bruce has another masterplan for 2006 under his belt and a good eye for new talent still. Now I can really enjoy my holiday knowing 03 and on will be in good hands.
Nothing like seeing an email in your inbox announcing that we have Arena for at least four more years.
