[result]"Neville scored via a couple of deflections and showed no ill-effects before coming off at half-time."

Oh dear, we started with Gary Neville and ended up with Frank Lampard.[/result]

    Simpson was at left-back again.

Anichebe got a deflected goal and then goal from range by Vaughan had put Everton two goals up. Neville then got a deflected goal before Evans tied it up. We also missed a penalty inbetween which resulted in an Everton red.

Anybody think Neville will pop up on the bench as a surprise tomorrow?

I'd like to think so - we haven't heard any news at all in the last few weeks, yet if we're to believe the earlier reports he's been doing full training with us. I'd expect an appearance just like Scholesy's this past weekend, even if it's just for 10-15 minutes it'd be nice to know that he can still play football.

As would I. No doubt you've heard a few people here and there speculating as to whether he'll ever come back by now. Haven't really thought much of it, but as this has been dragging on for ages now I'm just about beginning to have one or two doubts myself. :(

Would be chuffed to see him involved.

I'll admit it, I've definitely had thoughts that he may never come back. The types of injuries that kept setting him back around the fall were all muscular, which is a pretty bad sign at Neville's age. Top that off with being out of the game for 9 months now, and all in all the trek back to Prem-level football has/had to be a tough one.

Neville deserves to go out on his own terms, not as a result of an injury. Guy is a legend, and he's earned as much.

We are literally one injury to Wes Brown away from being pretty inexperienced at that position - it's funny, because in the past Brown was one of the most injured players we had, yet now he's a relative stalwart.

Front page of the official website says Gaz is in the squad against Liverpool with the Reserves.

Seeing as it's Lpool, he'll probably go mental, throw himself into one too many challenges, and be ought another fortnight. It's damn near a year now since he last played..

Well I won't be so pessimistic. ;) Great news.

From what I've heard there could be a big crowd down there tonight (upto 10,000) and with a number of United going we've been 'given' a stand. Quite fancy it myself but am gonna have to settle for the tv option.

Agger, Alonso and Kewell are all starting for them apparently.

Kewell may as well become a permanent part of the Reserve side. Hopefully Gaz gives him a kicking up and down the pitch.

I know this is "good news", but the fact remains that it's nearly been a calendar year since he was on the pitch for us. Furthermore, we've seen these recent Reserve games come and go, with Gaz even playing a bit - yet after hearing about 0 setbacks and how he's in full training for weeks now, he's still doing Reserve matches.

I know he is a 30+ year old player coming off a major injury, and his match fitness has probably been shot to shite, but you'd think he'd have maybe had 15 minutes at the end of a match by now. I mean, Fergie must have had enough confidence in the side against Newcastle - could Nev not have made that bench?

I'm not convinced that he'll be back.
