Never mind Dichio...

    ...bring on Lombardo!

I thought the sending off of Dichio improved the game of TFC. None of the long balls up the pitch which was really going nowhere and is a bore to watch.

Come the second half Toronto looked a different team from where I was sat. And with the addition of Lombardo near the end of the game they were in complete control. I see big things for TFC and Canada with this youth, determined and clever from what I've seen of him up to now.

I disagree...somewhat. I think that Dichio is a great firestarter and puts some oomph into TFC's spirits. True, they played better when he was off, but I think they did it, not despite the sending off, but because of the sending off. His passion galvanizes the team, I think, and when he got sent off it's like the team rallied around the sending off.

I really think Dichio is one of the best things that has happened to TFC. Now if only he can stay in some games. It is great to see so much potential in the team though. I hope Lombardo becomes a regular sub and sees a lot of action. What a sublime future that man has!

    Ooooooooh, Danny Dichioooooo!

Lombardo played well in the sub apperance but Dicho would be the guy I go with for most of the matches becasue he has the expereince and for the most part before the sending off he was effective in his play.

I do think that in the match we did send a bit too many long balls his way but that isnt his fault becasue he is a target man, it is the players who rather use that out-let than move the ball up the pitch with short passes.

I thought Lombardo was great. Hopefully he can get in the mix as a late game sub on a permanent basis. We know he'll be needed with occasional injuries and Dichio red cards.

You've got to love Danny D, but Lombardo showed that future looks good for young Canadians.

lombardo looked great, and he played a full 90 the night before. he dominated argentina's defence. he has a great awareness of the game and the ball seems to come to him.

I have to agree, your team played a lot better after the sending off. My only question is whether this was because Dichio wasn't playing, or because Gutierrez wasn't playing...

I thought Lombardo did great, he played 90 minutes the night before for Canada and looked great for the 20 minutes he was on. I would like to see him get some more playing time, hopefully he gets the start on Wednesday against Houston in Dichio's absence.

Fair point. I'd also say we were better able to take advantage of the extra space left by the two ejectees.

BTW, remember, we're going to lose Lombardo to the U-20's for a month or so.
