Never heard a sweeter sounding word than Feyenoord part 2

Discussion in 'The Netherlands' started by feyenoordsoccerfan, Jun 4, 2012.

  1. BBC writes that there are about eighteen clubs, spread over England and Europe, that were interested in Sterling. The Daily Mail mentions Napoli as a club where Sterling could go. 'But days after tearing up his contract with a value of 375 thousand euros a week, he chooses Feyenoord.' The Sun calls the transfer a shock. 'Everton held talks with Sterling, just like Juventus and Napoli. Leeds United thought of a deal with Sterling and West Ham United wanted to rent Sterling from Chelsea before his contract was terminated. Feyenoord has reportedly first offered a long-term contract, but Sterling opted for a short-term contract to see if the club really suits him. He has mainly trained alone at Chelsea this year.'

At Rotterdam airport, in front of the closed gate of the 1908 training complex, wherever Sterling could be, supporters of Feyenoord appeared to catch a glimpse of the 31-year-old attacker. Van Persie had had a bit of the same feeling as the supporters. And not only him, but also the group of players.
"Raheem came when we were already training, I went inside to greet him and later Raheem went outside to do something in the context of the medical examination and then you see the other players come to take a look," said Van Persie. All logical, the coach thought. "This is one of the biggest transfers ever in the Netherlands", said the coach.

Sterling is over the hill. Never spend money on over 30 forwards.

Just when Feyenoord's selection was almost fully fit again, Robin van Persie had to deal with two setbacks in the home game against Go Ahead Eagles. After Oussama Targhalline, his replacement Sem Steijn also dropped out. The injury of the former does not look good. The match seemed to start positively for Feyenoord. Go Ahead Eagles striker Thibo Baeten received a red card for a hard charge on Targhalline's ankle. As a result, however, Targhalline could not continue. He tried for a while, but had too much trouble with his ankle to continue playing. 'Targhalline is out for the time being,' said Van Persie afterwards at the press conference. 'That was a dirty foul. That doesn't belong on a field. It doesn't look good for Targhalline. It doesn't look good. Of course, tests will follow to see how serious the injury is. But the first signs are not good.'
The Moroccan was replaced by Steijn, who played out the first half. However, he did not come out of the battle unscathed either. In the second half, Steijn stayed behind in the dressing room and Van Persie had to be creative. 'Sem came in', Van Persie explained. 'He got problems with his knee quite quickly. That continued. As a result, Sem himself indicated that he could not continue

Raheem Sterling is now also allowed to train with Feyenoord in the Netherlands: work and residence permit arranged
The work and residence permit for Raheem Sterling have been arranged. That means that the 31-year-old Englishman can now also train in the Netherlands with his new club Feyenoord. Feyenoord went on a short training camp last week in Tubize, at the training complex of the Belgian Football Association. Sterling got to know his new teammates not only with football, but also with boxing and teqball. Feyenoord trained twice on Tuesday and again on Wednesday, after which the selection returned to Rotterdam. By crossing the national border, the club circumvented Dutch law. It states that the 31-year-old Englishman is only allowed to train with the selection when the work permit has been received.

Drama for Feyenoord: long-term absence for Steijn and Targhalline:(
Feyenoord has received a new blow on a medical level. Sem Steijn (24) has undergone meniscus surgery. Oussama Targhalline is also sidelined for a long time.

  9. So we lost again two midfielders this week.
One after a dirty tackle, and the other, because of already lingering issues, resulting in an meniscus injury, after being subbed in for Targhalline.

I'm a bit wondering if the Ajax - NEC result, a draw, is the best result for Feyenoord, or that a win of the weakest would be better by putting the stronger one 1 extra point in the minus.

Raheem Sterling will make his first minutes for Feyenoord against Telstar, Robin van Persie has confirmed.
The Feyenoord coach has also explained why he chooses Jordan Bos as a left winger, although he looked a bit irritated. Feyenoord can take full advantage of the loss of points of Ajax and NEC, who drew against each other. How did Van Persie look at that match? 'With the hope that it would be a draw and it was,' the coach began honestly at ESPN. Soon it was about the fitness of Sterling, who starts on the bench in De Kuip. 'Raheem trained with us and got through the week well. He feels good and is relaxed. He can come in and will do so', Van Persie is clear.
'We are focused and work together in a targeted way to work on his fitness. He has already shown good things in training. It is logical that he needs some time to play ninety minutes, we have to be realistic with each other. Even a player of Raheem's level needs time to find his rhythm again.' Remarkable in Feyenoord's line-up is the starting place for Bos, as a left winger. 'Gijs has been training for a while and that has been going well in recent weeks. He just can't play a whole game yet, but that's the trade-off. Do we start with him or do we bring him, if you also take that in relation to Bos. I choose him as a left winger because of his speed and power, he can attack the spaces behind the defense well.'
But isn't that strange, knowing that Aymen Sliti and Gonçalo Borges start on the bench as wingers.
'That's always how you highlight it, but I don't look at it that way. I look at what type of players I need per match. And I think Bos's characteristics fit this match. His drive without the ball behind the attacking line, I have a good feeling about that. My tip to you is that you should look at why I do make a choice and not at why I don't make a choice', was the somewhat irritated answer.
Casper Tengstedt scored the winning goal for Feyenoord against Go A. Eagles.
Whether V. P has considered starting with the Dane? 'No', said the coach, who has full confidence in Ueda. 'He has to be fresh and fit to reach his level. That was not the case in recent weeks. But he has had a good week of training and all signs indicate that he is going to reach the level again. He has taken the next step and fully earned his trust
'We are certainly taking Telstar into account, but we are not going to adapt.
With Koeman, for example, he has a very positive contribution in the build-up. They have a nice way of playing and I think they are actually too low, but we don't adapt,' Van Persie concluded.

  12. List of injuries Feyenoord is missing many players due to injury.
Oussama Targhalline, Sem Steijn, Leo Sauer, Givairo Read and Shaqueel van Persie have been injured recently.
Thomas Beelen, Gernot Trauner, Malcolm Jeng and Shiloh 't Zand have been missing (almost) all season.

Well, it's a win against Telstar and that's all to be said, except maybe to mention Lotomba by far was the worst player on the pitch, in that short amount of time on the pitch being responsible for letting Telstar create dangerous moments.
Sterling didnot add anything, but that's not surprising for being just a few days in the club.

  14. Wellenreuther in amazement: 'See players suddenly dribbling around their own sixteen'
Feyenoord captain Timon Wellenreuther has been very surprised by his team's play.
The German goalkeeper saw his teammates do the weirdest things in the final phase against Telstar. 'I'm not satisfied with the game at all,' Wellenreuther began after the narrow win at ESPN. 'I don't think it's good enough. We have three points, but if you see how we play. We are leading 2-1 and then suddenly start dribbling around our own penalty area in the final phase. We also lose the ball a few times. We definitely need to talk about that.'

Wellenreuther saw that Feyenoord could have made the match a lot less exciting in the first half.
'We've had enough chances, so we just have to finish it off. In the first half, Ayase (Ueda, ed.) missed a few chances. But this has been the problem all season. If you lock up the game earlier, it looks easy. Now it looks difficult.' The highlight of the difficult second half was the debut of Raheem Sterling. How does Wellenreuther view the English superstar? 'It's nice to have a player with that experience in the team. He has played big games with big teams. Hopefully he will bring that game to the field now. Then we'll see what happens.'

Feyenoord and Kees van Wonderen are in talks for the position of Technical Director of Feyenoord.

  16. Nitwit mario Been has his doubts about the appointment of Kees van Wonderen as technical director at Feyenoord.

Dude, nobody asks you for any managementjob in football, you're lucky you're being asked to shit your nonsense on the sideline of matches.
It's telling about the people, who think it's illuminating to ask your opinion on these kind of matters.
Maybe shine a light too on ten Hag and Jordy Cruijff, nitwit?
AZ is looking for a TD. Did they contact you yet for their dream candidate list?

  17. Funny remark by Jorien van den Herik by the way. He said he never would have signed Robin van Persie as coach.
    :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Jorien, you signed Mario Been and iirc Erwin Koeman, being both the worst, mmm ..maybe Ruud Gullit should be included, coaches Feyenoord had.
I'm eternal thankful to you that you saved Feyenoord from going under, but when it is about getting Feyenoord back on level with PSV and Ajax you failed very much.

Van Persie's roi/achievement (almost) as good as Slot's in first Feyenoord year
After a year of Robin van Persie as head coach of Feyenoord, an interim balance can be drawn up. The coach, who came over from SC Heerenveen, is doing exactly as well as Arne Slot in terms of points average in the Eredivisie.
On VI PRO, Van Persie's performance compared to his predecessors in their first full year at Feyenoord was mapped out.
Somewhat striking is that Van Persie scores well in terms of points average in the Eredivisie. In fact, just as good as Arne Slot (2.09 points per game).
There is only a difference at European level, where Slot performed considerably better. This is partly due to the fact that Feyenoord played under Slot in the Conference League and Van Persie was active in the Champions League and Europa League. It is also striking that Van Persie is clearly having a lesser period. His first 24 matches were good for a points average of 1.96, the 24 after that for an average of 1.46.
Incidentally, Dick Advocaat averaged the most points in a whole year, but because of corona, Feyenoord only played twenty games in the Eredivisie. The lowest points average in the Eredivisie of the last four Feyenoord coaches is for Giovanni van Bronckhorst (1.85). He did win the championship with Feyenoord in the 2016/17 season.

  19. I would have liked they also mapped out the number of key injuries in that first year those coaches had to give a balanced pov.
We simply under van Persie and last year after Slot moved on had serious injury issues with key players.

Of course. If he isn't trying to dribble past attackers in his own box (and losing the ball), he is having the ball hit him fully in the hands only to let it go into his own goal.

Feyenoord's defense is crapola. And playing with Ueda is like fielding a squad of only 10 or 10.5. If the pass to him isn't perfectly set up for him to head or shoot, he can't seem to hang on to it and feed to a teammate.

Feyenoord castoffs, Zerrouki and van den Belt, have controlled the midfield this match.

    Comment from a Feyenoord watcher:
Two things continue to stand out at the current Feyenoord: Mats Deijl is always away from the right back position when Feyenoord has the ball.
If the Rotterdammers lose the ball, it is open there because Hadj Moussa sometimes falters in the transition.
Furthermore, the swapping of Watanabe and Ahmedhodzic recently seemed like a good move, but the Bosnian remains far away from his form earlier in the season.

  23. Kraaijeveld was ready for subbing out after about 20 minutes. He was pretty much useless in the midfield.
However him being on the pitch might be as a measure to save Hwang for after the break.
