Looking at the midfield performance, or more to the point the far below par level performance of Zerrouki I would suggest to Priske to leave out Zerrouki, as he has zero capacity to fullfill the Wieffer DM tasks and start playing the trio Timber, Zechiel and Hwang. Before the season started Zerrouki was given the chance to make his move to gain a spot in the midfield and he has been proving every time he's not worth it. Put him on the transferlist for this winterbreak window. He's nothing more than midtable Eredivisie level, not even worthy to be used as sub.
Dutch teams don't have enough talent to compete. I don't think it is the format as other lesser teams are doing OK. I remember Ajax getting terrible group draws during the de Boer years and they never advanced. Only Ajax and PSV have advanced past the first round in previous CL competitions in the past. What ten Hag did during his tenure is becoming more amazing as time passes.

Week 6: 2-3-0 9 points Beat NAC Breda 2-0 at home in De Kuip. NAC had only a single shot on goal, I believe, so it didn't require too much defensive effort, and Wellenreuther skipped his usual blunder or two to get a clean sheet. Gijs Smal crossed into box for Ueda to head home, good to see. And then Timber scored on a PK after NAC handball in the box. Gimenez was stretchered off with an injury, so he might be out for a while. Goals - Assists Gimenez 2 - 1 Paixao 2 - 1 Stengs 1 - 2 Timber 2 - 0 Hancko 1 - 1 Ueda 1 - 0 Milambo 1 - 0 Bueno 0 - 1 Zechiel 0 - 1 Lotomba 0 - 1 Smal 0 - 1 Opp own goal: 1 Goals scored: 11 Goals conceded: 5 Clean sheets: 1
I saw the highlights of that match. He scored Fortuna's only goal, heading in a corner. Good to see him get minutes and make a major contribution. Did you see Hwang in the NAC match? Reminded me of Karim El-Almadi, bossing the midfield.
278840 Timber and Priske said about Hwang that he has the profile of Pirlo...and I can see why by the way he played.
Yes. We get to play CL football with Ueda as a starter and Carranza in a sub role. Santiago's CL career hasn't been too stellar. He missed the first two matches last season, IIRC, due to a red card the season before. And he will miss several CL matches this season now.
279110 Whoa That 3d shirt of Feyenoord proves to be a hit. Long queues await you if you want one. The demand for the new kit is immediately huge. Even before the fan shops opened, the first people were queuing up. When the shops opened, at 09:00 in the morning, the queues only got longer. The Feyenoord fan shops are located at De Kuip and also in the centre of Rotterdam, on the Lijnbaan.
Nostalgia and this: Rotterdam colours Although a lot was bought online after the launch, many fans also came to the physical fan shops. Some were ready to get their hands on the shirt as early as 8:30 a.m. But why do they all like the shirt so much? "It's special because it's in the Rotterdam colours," says a woman who has had the name of striker Igor Paixão (or 'Paxio', as she says herself) printed on the third kit. Many fans agree with her. "I was born in Rotterdam, so this is something special," says one. "Finally we have what we want," says another.
His value Very tough situation they are in. Gimenez has certainly not done much in these higher level matches, and now getting injured is quite unfortunate.
Ajax Bob Marley shirt is the greatest 3rd shirt in the entire history of soccer. This one is just stupid looking but I guess Feyenoord supporters don't have much taste in what really looks good.
279146 Oh, shit Exclusive: Liverpool to swoop for Arsenal star's brother in stunning Arne Slot reunion TEAMtalk|7 hours ago Liverpool's desire to sign a new midfielder has been well documented and they could be set for a breakthrough as they target Feyrnoord's Quinten Timber.
279637 Ayase Ueda opens up about his role: "Feyenoord demands a lot from me" Ayase Ueda would have preferred to become a Feyenoord regular under different circumstances. After Santiago Gimenez's injury, he was given the chance as a first striker, an opportunity he would have preferred to seize 'on his own'. The Japanese looks to the future with confidence, despite his preference for a different path to the starting spot. Gimenez, who started the season as the first striker, suffered a thigh injury during the match against NAC Breda last week. As a result, he will miss about three months and it is now up to Ueda to show his worth. "I want to take advantage of this opportunity, but I didn't want to become a starting player in this way," said Ueda after the 1-1 draw against NEC in front of the camera of ESPN. "I wanted to become a regular striker on my own merits, but that's how it goes in football," continues Ueda, who did not score in Nijmegen. Despite this setback, he is determined: "I'm going to prove that I'm Feyenoord's number nine. I'm going to take this opportunity. I feel like I'm really developing." Ueda notices that he is changing as a striker: "I'm a totally different striker than I used to be. Feyenoord demands a lot from me, and sets the bar high." Ueda may be able to prove himself again on Wednesday when Feyenoord play the second Champions League game of this season, away at Girona. The Rotterdammers want to take revenge for the 0-4 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen. With his new role as first striker, Ueda hopes to make his mark on the season.
279665 Over a year unbeaten, but not happy. NEC - Feyenoord (28 Sep) Feyenoord (W2-G4-V0) have dropped points in at least four of the first six Eredivisie games for the first time since the 2019/2020 season. Even then, Feyenoord had collected 10 points after six rounds of play (W2-G4-V0). Feyenoord drew in an Eredivisie away game for the 300th time, sharing the Eredivisie record of 300 draws in away games with PSV. Feyenoord conceded its 1500th goal in an away match in the Eredivisie. Five other clubs preceded them: Sparta (1755), NAC (1729), FC Utrecht (1635), Willem II (1580) and ADO Den Haag (1533). Jordan Lotomba Jordan Lotomba became the first Swiss to score an Eredivisie goal since Roy Gelmi scored for VVV against PEC Zwolle on 21 March 2021 (2-1 win for PEC). Unbeaten Feyenoord players: Timon Wellenreuther was still unbeaten in his 33 Eredivisie matches with Feyenoord (W26-G7-V0), while Thomas Beelen played 24 matches (W17-G7-V0). Three players also remained unbeaten in their first 33 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord: Eddy Treijtel (first 36), Pétur Pétursson (36) and Mats Wieffer (34). Summary NEC - Feyenoord (28 Sep) Feyenoord had to go deep to take a point at all back to Rotterdam-South. NEC - Feyenoord line-ups (Sep 28) Brian Priske made one change to his Feyenoord starting line-up against NEC. In the starting line-up, Ayase Ueda replaces the injured Santiago Giménez. In the Feyenoord squad, Hugo Bueno and Gernot Trauner returned from their injuries Feyenoord assessed after draw against NEC (28 Sep) On the Feyenoord side, Ibrahim Osman and Thomas Beelen played a weak game. The latter made a big mistake with Sontje Hansen's 1-0 in the first half.
Bueno had some good attacks down the left side when he replaced Smal. The problem is that NEC had a lead by that time and Bueno's crosses into the box were met by 11-man bus park formation. Feyenoord needs to ditch their Glacial Buildup style of play to get better shooting opportunities.
279814 Brian Priske's choices crucial Girona is a team that has quite rightly forced qualification for the Champions League. But this year's Girona is a different team, struggling with itself, the revamped squad and the revamped expectations. The coach's conception of the game is unchanged modern, but the execution has weakened compared to the dream season. In addition, playmaker Daley Blind and controller Oriol Romeu left the field injured last Sunday afternoon in the match against Celta de Vigo and it is still unclear whether these indispensable players will be fit in time for the match against Feyenoord. There are certainly opportunities for Feyenoord. Left-back Miguel Gutiérrez can be found everywhere except at left-back. As a result, there will be plenty of space there when Feyenoord wins the ball. That presents Brian Priske with a dilemma. In the match against Bayer Leverkusen, the Dane opted for Antoni Milambo as a right forward on paper, to build in defensive security. There is also something to be said for fielding a fast right winger in the person of Ibrahim Osman this time, to hurt the Catalans in the transition. The second nut Priske will have to crack is the plan during Girona's possession. Should Feyenoord press high and hope for a Spanish festival of mistakes, or is slumping and lurking on the speed in the transition the key to success? If Feyenoord manage to force Girona to make mistakes in the build-up, then a result in Spain is a realistic scenario.
