Priske should have left Beelen in the match instead of subbing him out at half time. Given how Bayer Leverkusen will give them a butt kicking on Thursday, the Eredivisie points are MORE important than Champions League losses.
277699 18:45 cest, 19 september I'm getting a bit worried. There's no return match, so every match counts no matter what.
Exactly. Everyone plays 8 matches. They will be ranked in a table by points, goal differential, and goals scored. The top 8 get a bye round, and the bottom 24 play in another elimination round. It is really quite simple. But yes, there are no Home and Away pairings until the elimination rounds.
I personally like this new setup. It means that every game is a must win contest which is the way it should be.
277785 Well, preferences differ, but you're right bout the must win/can't take the pedal from the metal as one of the top teams. Suppose there are about 10/12 teams about the same level and you don't go full speed ahead and as a result you end up in the play off ko round in which anything can happen and you end up being ko'ed. That's a big risk to take and you aint got a way to gauge your chances until it probably too late to change things. This is why I think this format is the sword that cuts the head off of the aspiring superleague. That one is in fact a closed shop incarnation of the dull last 16 stage, in which you get the usual suspects in a boring the x time match between them.
277798 Given that Bayer Leverkusen is better than Juventus it's going to be a tough evening for Feyenoord, especially as we're still in the phase of molding/getting players ready to fit in.
Yeah, this is a home loss for sure. Too bad we didn't get a club like Dinamo Zagreb whom Bayern Munich blitzed for 9 goals (9-2) in their first home match. But the fans are guaranteed 4 home CL matches and it allows them to see top players.
277879 Thomas Beelen seems to be able to play against Leverkusen, as is Anis Hadj-Moussa. Beelen suffered a slight injury against FC Groningen, but was seen on the training ground again. Nieuwkoop however is out. Probable line up:
I'm getting increasingly pissed by the socalled football pundits and journalists, who act as if Priske inherited the complete Slot team and makes a mess of it. These assholes are putting the lights on trivial things like the post match hugging as if that's something impacting the performance. Especially Mario Been is doing that. You know..the coach who suffered the 10-0 beating up by PSV. He was a shit coach and should stfu about other coaches, especially if the group hug is your point of contention
"Quinten Timber probably didn't mean it that way, but his remark to Brian Priske was telling", is the things stirring up quote in ADSportwereld by Mikos Gouka. Quinten didnot say anything that you can interpret the way in the quote suggests. He basically said the press conference was easy for him when he left and said to the coach: "Now come the hard questions." Quinten Timber dolt met Brian Priske op de persconferentie 😅🎙️— ESPN NL (@ESPNnl) September 18, 2024
Thank you for your optimism! However, it is now 0-4 at 44'. Feyenoord is showing their cr@pness. And it doesn't matter that the Bayer attackers were offside on that free kick.
Turns out the 44' goal was an own goal for Wellenreuther, so it didn't matter how many Bayer players were offsides. Getting Zerrouki out of midfield at the half time break meant that Feyenoord played Bayer even 0-0 in the second half. Of course, the German club started treating it like a midweek training kick-about to keep them sharp for the more difficult Bundesliga competition.
Terrible result for Dutch football once again tonight with Feyenoord giving Leverkusen the match 5 minutes in courtesy of Zeerouki. I can’t believe how poor Wellenreuther is and his awful, nonsensical own goal right before the half was just embarrassing. Priske has to come to his senses and pull the German. I just think he’s terrible. Zeerouki is way out of his depth and Trauner also can’t play at this level because he’s brutally slow. The lack of defending in transition was cruelly punished tonight by Leverkusen and Priske needs to speak with his team about their awful defending and decisions on the ball.
278014 Well, the ones essential in transition from defense to attack are gone or injured. The ones available are just in the club or simply (Zerrouki) lack the quality. We were unlikely going to beat Leverkusen, the only ones who managed that was Atalanta. So basically nothing changed, but for the matches we have to win improvement is needed.

Well, the Feyenoord U19 did lose too against Leverkusen, but gave it a fight. 1-2. https://www.rijnmond.nl/nieuws/1893890/youth-league-bayer-leverkusen-te-sterk-voor-feyenoord
Geertruida Wieffer Minteh gone and Hartman injured. Certainly Zeerouki and Lotomba at RB were bad and Trauner can’t run but the GK yikes. Are you happy with Wellenreuther in Goal? I know Bijlow was on his way to Southampton failed the physical, but is he currently injured? I’m not even a big fan of him, but man Priske needs to change the Keeper in my opinion.
278183 It was unbelievable how Zerouki after receiving the ball from iirc Timber, well an effort to receive it as he let the ball bounce from his foot to the Leverkusen player instead of bouncong it back to Timber who pointed where he wanted it back. Then he didnot react at all to that ball loss and let the Leverkusen player head towards the box, where Trauner was far too distanced from the midfielders to interfere. My guess Trauner is not linking up with the midfield, because he's not capable anymore to match forwards running, so he goes for safe, but as such makes a hole behind the midfield. No, he's fine, but Priske made his choice in anticipation of the move. Both are about the same level, with Bijlow the better one. Wellenreuther is a very good keeper and has proven that last two seasons withoutout a hickup replacing Vincent. The weird thing is that somehow being the nr. 1 puts the pressure on him and he did some strange things the last 3 matches. About the same number as in the two seasons before in total.
