275539 No Diao. On Monday, there were busy negotiations with Real Betis and with the player himself. However, it didn't work out to close a deal. Diao will therefore remain in Spain.
Igor Paixão's goal in the match between Feyenoord and FC Utrecht has been voted Goal of the Year in the Eredivisie. The striker received the award during the Eredivisie Award gala in Utrecht. Paixão scored on March 31 with a beautiful long-range shot and made it 1-2 in the match that Feyenoord eventually won 4-2. The other nominated goals were also largely long shots. Johan Bakayoko, Bas Dost, David Min, Ruben van Bommel, Jakov Medic and Kaj Sierhuis, among others, were nominated. Although Paixão's goal was beautiful, there is a lot of surprise on social media about the award. Because the public decided the winner, many football fans conclude that Feyenoord supporters have 'hijacked' the poll. Paixão received the award from presenter Jan Joost van Gangelen, who showed his talent for languages and interviewed him in Portuguese.
275670 Hwang In-Beom: Skilled passer, not a controller Analysis of the 27-year-old South Korea international, who has made a name for himself as a box-to-box midfielder. With Hwang In-Beom, Feyenoord is investing in a player who has already asserted himself at Champions League level. On a night when former ball boy Micah Hamilton demanded attention, In-Beom was good for a goal and an assist against Manchester City. With that performance, the South Korean underlined that he was the big star of Red Star Belgrade. In his debut season, he won the double in Serbia and was voted Player of the Season. In-Beom received the same title a year earlier from the club Olympiakos Piraeus. Those performances in Serbia and Greece suggest that In-Beom is ready for the Eredivisie. He has proven himself as a box-to-box midfielder, who is difficult to put under pressure and can speed up the attacking play of teams. The big question is where Brian Priske wants to put the technically proficient playmaker.
I've no clue whatsoever about his qualities. He's not going to be the replacement of Wieffer, the one we really needed someone for. Unfortunately Zerrouki hasnot been up to the task sofar.
275740 Sad: Feyenoord youth coach passed away at the age of 68 The youth coach of Feyenoord Academy passed away last weekend and was 68 years old. A day earlier, assistant coach John de Wolf also announced the death of Oost. The club shares the following compassionate words on its website. "Oost, who has been associated with Feyenoord Academy since 1992, was a passionate youth coach and a trainer pur sang with a clear vision of training. He was happy to share this vision with everyone. Feyenoord will never forget his love for the club and his commitment to the many youth players he has coached and are grateful to him for the 32 years in which he has worked for the club. Feyenoord wishes the family and relatives a lot of strength with this great loss." Rest in peace, fellow Feyenoord fan. Strength to the family in dealing with this loss.
275918 Feyenoord has submitted the selection for the competition phase of the Champions League to UEFA. The A-list has one notable absentee: acquisition Plamen Andreev. Participating clubs are allowed to put 25 players, including at least two goalkeepers, on the A-list. In addition, there is a B-list, which does not have a maximum number of players. The B-list includes players who have played for their club for at least two consecutive seasons between the ages of fifteen and 21. Gjivai Zechiël and Quilindschy Hartman are not on the A-list, but can still play in the Champions League. Feyenoord's decision not to put Hartman on the A-list has to do with his injury. The left back is expected to be out until at least the winter break and will therefore miss the majority of the games in the league phase. The fact that Andreev is not on the list of players is remarkable. The nineteen-year-old goalkeeper cannot be put on the B-list and will therefore not play in the Champions League. Jordan Lotomba and In-beom Hwang, Feyenoord's most recent signings, are on the list of players. List of players Feyenoord Goalkeepers: Justin Bijlow, Timon Wellenreuther, Mannou Berger Defenders: Bart Nieuwkoop, Thomas Beelen, Gijs Smal, Facundo González, Hugo Bueno, Gernot Trauner, Jeyland Mitchell, Jordan Lotomba, Dávid Hancko Midfielders: In-beom Hwang, Ramiz Zerrouki, Quinten Timber, Calvin Stengs, Antoni Milambo, Chris-Kévin Nadje Forwards: Ayase Ueda, Igor Paixão, Luka Ivanusec, Julián Carranza, Anis Hadj-Moussa, Santiago Gimenez, Ibrahim Osman
275974 Alas, another sad message has to be posted. https://www.soccernews.nl/news/feyenoord-gigant-voert-nu-allermoedigste-strijd/ Feyenoord giant is now fighting the bravest battle Pierre Vermeulen (68) had great successes as a gifted left-footed player in Feyenoord with Johan Cruyff, at the illustrious Paris Saint-Germain, Roda JC and also in the Dutch national team. Heyday that has now been overtaken by the harsh reality: deterioration due to a terrible disease.
Martijn Krabbendam analyses Feyenoord's transfer window Assane Diao was put forward as a new transfer target on Deadline Day after it became clear that Andreas Skov Olsen would no longer come to Rotterdam. In the end, Diao didn't come to Rotterdam either. "From an eighteen-year-old player, you can also wonder if that would have been the solution," says club watcher of Voetbal International in Voetbalpraat. "He was a totally different type than Skov Olsen. That is also remarkable. Nineteen games in La Liga and you would have paid a lot for it. Maybe you should just think: okay, it didn't work out. Maybe it's better we didn't get this guy. Now they have a little more time to do something in the winter. They still have plenty of choices up front." Krabbendam also notes that Priske didn't have a bad feeling about this transfer window: "After Sparta, he did talk about a lack of quality, but that had to do with the execution. I've come to know Priske as someone who won't complain if he hasn't got new players. Maybe he does that internally, but outwardly he's a man who doesn't want to lose someone easily." "All in all, Feyenoord didn't have a bad window at all. They have definitely become stronger in terms of width," is Krabbendam's verdict. Feyenoord have strengthened themselves with Hugo Bueno, Jordan Lotomba and In-beom Hwang, among others. "The specific goals and transfer targets: replacement for Wieffer and a right winger didn't work out. Maybe it will fit in midfield with the South Korean, you don't know that yet. It's just not a Wieffer type." The red bolded part, exactly what I posted not so long ago.
Some pundits are targeting Priske for not having Feyenoord playing as good as under Slot. These imbecils simply show they either have no clue what they're talking about or simply ignore the how and why. From the Slot-machine essential parts are gone, of which Wieffer is the most important. He was pivotal in the way Slot's Feyenoord played: https://sport360.prod.whoscored.occloud.io/Players/445059/History/Mats-Wieffer
I’m not a fan of Wieffer but he’s missed as the DM certainly with his work rate. Also no Hartman is a big miss too. Early days, but clearly the other problems under Priske are of his own doing with a change in formation that is not working along with some new faces on the teamsheet such as GK were Wellenreuther has cost the team already. Probably another reality is the fact that Feyenoord have an unsettled squad with the likes of Gimenez, Hancko, Bijlow, and Stengs all expecting to move on.
276426 Ouch Women Feyenoord V1 learns hard lesson in London 2 hours ago 9 Comments From the Editors Feyenoord V1 has suffered a hard defeat on a visit to Chelsea. At Kingsmeadow, Jessica Torny's team lost with big numbers on Saturday afternoon: 9-0. Feyenoord knew they were going to have a tough job against Chelsea. The London team has been one of the absolute top teams in women's football for years, and is record champion and reigning title holder of the strong English FA Women's Superleague. On a packed Kingsmeadow, things quickly went wrong for Feyenoord after the first whistle. After 8 minutes, the score was already 2-0 for the home team. After this early deficit, Feyenoord came into the game a bit better, and there were also a number of chances. At the end of the second half, Chelsea scored twice. Half-time score: 4-0. After the break, the score increased even further. Goals in the 61st, 75th, 76th and 85th minutes made the final score look 8-0 but deep into injury time, a ninth Chelsea goal was added. Feyenoord line-up: Szymczak; Koga (Braun 66'), Verspaget, Obispo (Van Bentem 27'), Brandau (Heij 46'); Conijnenberg (Balkhir 66'), Waldus (Oudejans 66'), Teulings (Mulder 66'); Van de Lavoir (Buabadi 66'), Van Kerkhoven (Koopman 46'), De Graaf (Wick 66') Text: Feyenoord.nl
Van Hanegem with a hard and harsh judgement about Ueda. Willem van Hanegem is still not convinced about Ayase Ueda. De Kromme is slowly starting to lose faith in the Japanese, as he acknowledges in the Willem & Wessel Podcast. Ueda started in the starting line-up for Japan, which faced China and eventually won 7-0. The Feyenoord striker did not impress Van Hanegem. "Every time I've said,, it's so difficult for a striker when he only gets seven, ten or eleven minutes. Now he has played a few times a little longer and it was nothing," says the former footballer. "Now I see him playing again." "Won 7-0 and he doesn't score a goal. Ueda had the same chances and made the same mistakes as at Feyenoord. He was played balls and then lost them again in the turn. In a way that makes you think: this can't be true? Even as a point of contact, it didn't go well. He had chances, half shooting and then falling again. He had chances, half shooting and then falling again. If your team scores seven times and you're a striker and you don't score yourself, that's not a good thing," said Van Hanegem.
That's what I see from Ueda. When he tries to shoot, he is leaning (falling) over and launching shots into the high stands. He needs to toughen up. I want to see Carranza given 20- to 30-minutes in the next match rather than Ueda.
276748 Feyenoord player Quilindschy Hartman aims for a comeback at the start of 2025. Hartman was present at the 'Making Football Matter' conference, which focuses on the Feyenoord Foundation. There, the defender announced in a short reaction that he will not play again this calendar year. He is focusing on the beginning of 2025. The left wing-back of the Rotterdam club was badly injured in March to his knee during a duel with FC Utrecht. The recovery process is going according to expectations, but it will take at least until the beginning of next year before he is fully fit. If his recovery remains on track, Hartman may be able to return in January 2025 in major games, such as the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich and the away game against LOSC Lille later that month. For the Feyenoord supporters, it will be a while before his return.
276820 Emerson Pedro Vanga. Feyenoord picks up talent from Lyon on a free transfer 11.39, 10 Sep 2010 2024 Feyenoord have signed Emerson Pedro Vanga for one year. The eighteen-year-old defender was on trial after his transfer-free departure from Olympique Lyon. Pedro Vanga, who played in L'OL's youth academy for six years, joins Feyenoord Under-21. His contract includes an option for another season. 'Feyenoord is also known in France for, among other things, its strong youth academy', said the Frenchman on the club site of the Rotterdammers. 'Everything is here to help a player further in his development. I seize this great opportunity with both hands.'
276980 Quinten Timber succeeds Lutsharel Geertruida as Feyenoord captain, puzzle in midfield against Groningen With four points already lost in the fresh season, there's little room for error at Feyenoord. In and against Groningen, coach Brian Priske, who chose Quinten Timber as captain, will have to make sure that the positions of defensive midfielder and right striker are filled properly. But the options are awfully thin. Brian Priske didn't see the departure of Mats Wieffer and Yankuba Minteh being solved in the summer months. With Ramiz Zerrouki as defensive midfielder and Calvin Stengs as right striker, the Danish coach repaired the departure of the two internationals in the first weeks of the season. But due to a suspension of Zerrouki and an injury for Stengs, the coach has to puzzle with his starting eleven in the Euroborg against FC Groningen. "Does it cause problems? No problems, but challenges'', says Priske. Especially since the Korean purchase Hwang In-beom is not yet there in Groningen. The midfielder, who turns 28 this month, is waiting for the green light from the IND to be allowed to play for his new club. Priske expressed the hope that the purchase will be there on Thursday in the Kuip against Bayer Leverkusen. The fact that Wieffer and Minteh were not replaced in the last transfer period was something Priske did not want to complain about. ,,Dennis te Kloese, me and the scouting department of the club did everything they could'', Priske said. "It didn't work out, but we still have a strong selection with a lot of quality." After the departure of Wieffer and with the absence of Zerrouki, who is most suitable to play as a defensive midfielder, according to Priske? ,,We have good midfielders: Timber, Milambo, Zechiel and Nadje. But Zerrouki is the player who can really play as a defensive midfielder. It now depends on how exactly I'm going to put it on the pitch. Exactly replacing Wieffer is impossible, but Hwang could be a possibility. He makes meters offensively and defensively. Only he won't be there on Saturday. But I think we can solve this against FC Groningen. Is that also possible in 3:4:3? That could be the case, yes.''
Then it is also a matter of finding out who the attacker is who will be posted on the right front. The new Minteh, in other words. Stengs was a different type but was given that role. Against Sparta it was Anis Hadj-Moussa after the break, but he still seems to have to take some steps to really be a decisive force at Feyenoord. Luka Ivanusec played against Willem II, but then the winger had to play emphatically on the inside. And loanee Ibrahim Osman from Brighton & Hove Albion can play in all positions up front, Priske thinks. "We did everything we could to bring in top quality in that position," Priske said. "We didn't succeed. Stengs will return soon, we have Hadj-Moussa, Ivanusec and Paixao who can play there. And I've only had Osman on the training pitch a few times. He was away with Ghana and didn't come back to us until late this week. He's very fast, good at the one-on-one. He still has to get used to it, also to the Netherlands. But he's ready to help us.'' The coach said that the return of Justin Bijlow does not change his choice to appoint Timon Wellenreuther as the first goalkeeper. And the Dane spoke to Quinten Timber about the way he reacted to his substitution at the Castle against Sparta. The trainer, himself didnot take that too seriously. That was especially evident when he chose Timber as the successor of captain Lutsharel Geertruida, who has left for the German club RB Leipzig. Timber has played three international matches.
Week 5: 1-3-0 6 points Feyenoord threw away a late 0-2 lead to gift Groningen a point in a 2-2 draw. Groan-again own goal on a Feyenoord corner, and Paixao header from Lotomba cross were the goals before the defensive collapse. Goals - Assists Gimenez 2 - 1 Paixao 2 - 1 Stengs 1 - 2 Hancko 1 - 1 Milambo 1 - 0 Timber 1 - 0 Bueno 0 - 1 Zechiel 0 - 1 Lotomba 0 - 1 Opp own goal: 1 Goals scored: 9 Goals conceded: 5 Clean sheets: 0
Starting lineup was: Wellenreuther Lotomba, Beelen, Hancko, Smal Zechiel, Timber, Nadje Nieuwkoop, Gimenez, Paixao A lot of wasted chances in the match from the "money men" (Paixao, Gimenez) meant that Groningen had only to overcome a 0-2 deficit in the final minutes to get the draw. This Feyenoord side is still unsettled, with new players still getting acquainted. Lotomba and Nadje did alright, but Gimenez is still missing chances. Carranza and Osman got some sub minutes.
277166 The one to blame is Trauner. At the first goal he was awol and the second goal that was a header he in his good days never allowed to happen. Trauner has, since his injury, transformed from a rock solid defender into a liability.
