Ref Nijhuis is furious about the way VAR acted, leading to the nullification of the first goal scored.
In his opinion it wasnot a situation of obvious error and he shouldnot have been called to the sideline to look at it.

Tot vorig weekend was Feyenoord nog de ploeg met de minste verliespunten, maar dat veranderde na het doelpuntloze gelijkspel tegen FC Twente. De eerste plek kon vanavond dus niet meer veroverd worden, maar de motivatie aan Rotterdamse kant was er niet minder om. Arne Slot liet twee andere spelers aan de rechterflank starten. Jens Toornstra en Marcus Pedersen kregen allebei rust, waardoor Lutsharel Geertruida en Alireza Jahanbakhsh weer een keer in de basis mochten starten.

De openingsfase oogde wat rommelig. Toch lag de bal snel in het netje. Heracles zakte niet terug, waardoor Feyenoord bij de eerste aanval na tien minuten direct trefzeker was. Fredrik Aursnes legde de bal terug op Sinisterra en de Colombiaan ronde keurig af. VAR Marc Nagtegaal was niet zo overtuigd van het doelpunt en keek de situatie voorafgaand zeker drie minuten lang terug. Bas Nijhuis werd naar de zijkant geroepen en floot daarna met frisse tegenzin voor een overtreding van Alireza Jahanbakhsh op Giacomo Quagliata. Een minuut later mocht Nijhuis wel een doelpunt noteren, maar voor de uitploeg. De scherpte was even weg bij Geertruida, die met een ziekenhuisbal zijn eigen verdediging in gevaar bracht. Uiteindelijk was het Sinan Bakis die profiteerde en de 0-1 op het scorebord toverde.

Er volgde een aanvalsgolf van de Rotterdammers. Waar het toch enigszins slordig oogde, kwamen ze wel tot een aantal kansen. Brian Linssen kreeg de bal vlak voor rust op een presenteerblaadje aangeboden, maar schoot de bal vol tegen Janis Blaswich aan. Door de acht minuten extra tijd, mogelijk gemaakt door de ellendige blessure van Ismail Azzaoui, had Feyenoord echter nog genoeg tijd om voor het rustsignaal nog toe te slaan. Orkun Kökcü kapte eenvoudig de ingevallen Bilal Basacikoglu uit en legde de bal af op Sinisterra, die nu wel voor zijn vijfde doelpunt van de competitie mocht aantekenen.

De eerste helft eindigde met een stevige overtreding van Quagliata die veel te laat was met zijn ingezette sliding op Gernot Trauner. Hij trof vol de wreef van de Oostenrijker, maar Nijhuis besloot niet verder te gaan dan een gele kaart. Zo had de arbiter een groot aandeel in de eerste helft die uiteindelijk in evenwicht eindigde.

In de tweede helft kwam Feyenoord bijna weer op achterstand na een geweldige pass van Kaj Sierhuis.

Hij stuurde daarmee Delano Burgzorg weg die in zijn eentje recht op Ofir Marciano kon aflopen. De Israëlische goalie deed wat hij in de eerste helft niet deed: redding brengen. Hierdoor kon Feyenoord rustig opzoek gaan naar de voorsprong. Uit het niets zette Guus Til met een pass Sinisterra oog in oog met Blaswich. In tegenstelling tot Burgzorg wist Sinisterra wel te profiteren en zette hij Feyenoord op een 2-1 voorsprong.

Het bleek uiteindelijk genoeg voor de drie punten, aangezien Heracles in de resterende minuten aanvallend te weinig bracht om het Marciano lastig te maken. Door de 2-1 overwinning stijgt Feyenoord naar de tweede plek op de ranglijst.

Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson says he is learning a more tactical style of football in the Eredivisie.

Nelson joined Feyenoord on loan in the summer after Gunners boss Mikel Arteta made it clear he was not part of his plans this season.

He’s barely featured, notching one goal in eight subsitute appearances totalling just over 100 minutes.
But the 21-year-old insists he’s learning a lot with the Dutch club, in a league that’s slower paced and “more about tactics”.

“In the months that I am here, I am really impressed with Feyenoord,“ Nelson told Hand in Hand (via Sport Witness).

“I knew the name Feyenoord when I came to De Kuip, of course, and I also knew that the game against AZ was a bit loaded.

“I thought it was fantastic to come on in a packed stadium with a great atmosphere. When Dessers scored, we all went crazy.”

“When I compare English football with Dutch football, I see that in England, it’s more about running and switching quickly. The pace of the matches is higher. Here it is more about tactics, I notice.”

Arne Slot ziet dat het harde werk in de voorbereiding zijn vruchten afwerpt bij Feyenoord. De Rotterdammers hebben niet de breedste selectie, maar zijn ploeg is wel bijzonder fit, waardoor het in de Eredivisie in het spoor van Ajax blijft en in de Conference League overwintert.



Slot moest Feyenoord tijdens de zomer snel fit zien te krijgen met het oog op de Europese voorrondes. Hij overlegde daarom veel met de fysieke trainers, legt hij uit aan Voetbal International. "Oké, we moeten fysiek snel stappen maken en tegelijkertijd goed zijn als team. Ik heb graag fysieke trainers die mij niet zeggen: Vandaag doen we acht keer vijftig seconden dit of dat. Nee, ze moeten aangeven wat ze in grote lijnen willen, dan verzin ik de vormen erbij."


Slot merkte al bij AZ dat die aanpak zijn vruchten afwerpt. "Daarvóór was het vooral Verheijen dat gangbaar was, die denkwijze kreeg je ook tijdens de cursus. De methode van Verheijen kent voor de fysieke opbouw steeds een cyclus van een aantal weken. Op zich niks mis mee, maar bij AZ deden ze het anders en letten ze op de gesprinte meters boven twintig kilometer per uur. Ik heb die filosofie geadopteerd, omdat we bij AZ vrijwel nooit blessures hadden en uit data bleek dat we iedere wedstrijd fitter waren en meer liepen dan onze tegenstanders."

Feyenoord oogt dit seizoen topfit. Dat is volgens Slot een gevolg van de werkwijze, maar heeft ook met geluk te maken. "Je hebt soms te maken met contactblessures, daaraan kan niemand iets doen. Wat meehelpt, is dat we steeds beter worden in balbezit. Zodoende zijn we in staat veel van onze tegenstanders achter óns te laten aanlopen gedurende de wedstrijd en zorgt ervoor dat we ons behalve fit vóélen, er ook zo uitzien."

Anyway, the numbers of that site can be checked for the non EU players with the minimum required pay, which is 150% of the average Eredivisie salary.
I havenot found any new numbers for 2020-2021 (maybe because of corona), but the last number published was an average Eredivisie salary of 291000€€ in 2019, which means for non EU players a minimum salary of 436000.

So the number for Sinisterra has to be wrong with the mentioned 360000, which is 76k short of the legal minimum, apart from the fact the minimum required salary is also low for a player with his status.

What a bloody awful match Feyenoord played today.
In the first half they did absolutely nothing. FC Groningen started the second half as if they hadnot played a first half at all, due to the laclustre attitude Feyenoord displayed. So when after about an hour we finally started to up the tempo, FC Groningen had enough energy in the powerpack to withstand that.
Two wasted points against an opponent we should have strangled from the start, but we gave them the latitude to cruise through the first half without spending the energy, they could bring to the table in the second half.

Feyenoord still hasnot given up hope on the "Klassieker" on Sunday with fans.
I think it's idle hope, given omicron sweeping through Europe, but they say they will be prepared to start the ticket sale asap when the government would give green light.

Anyway, FC Twente is the first to tackle in this week's cup fight. Ajax has a stroll in the park with amateurs of Barendrecht compared to that.
