If they start to bunker then Huntelaar is an option for me. RvP so far not looking fit or sharp enough imo. Depay needs to learn to pass.
The tactics are not wrong, we have had our chances, but we need to score. Why make an analyses more difficult than it needs to be.
We're gonna be OK, Costa Rica hasnt even had a half decent shot on goal yet. NL playing too conservative though, they need to step it up one gear
Clearly had the better of the play but they are very difficult to break down playing 9 behind the ball. Depay has been hot and cold, with some poor touches. The formation that van Gaal has employed is the right one. I can't see Costa Rica scoring unless there is a major screw up on defense. Looks like they are willing to play to extra time.
RVP has looked completely off. We need to sub on Hunter. Also if required shift to a 4-3-3, take off BMI & get Clasie on. Costa Rica has parked the bus. Robben's dive admission has got him on the wrong side of ref decisions today
Was thinking the same thing re Hunter. If we have to start dropping long balls in we may need to bring him in. Agreed re RvP and Depay. I really hope this does not go to penalties
We are playing too slow. And by the way Wijnaldum is going we're a man down. He's either not reachable or standing still sleeping....
I'm not sure what Wijnaldum's role is. He more or less was hugging the halfway line and not moving around much at all. He did seem to press up in the last five minutes but had no impact at all.
With van Persie looking sub par do you bring in a target man (Huntelaar) or another runner (Lens)? Tough call in my mind.
Van Persie needs much more dynamic movement. Depay needs better focus. Blind just sitting on left touchline. That said we are much better team. Come on boys lets do this!
