"Keylor Navas is the world's most wanted goalkeeper"

"He [Navas] finished last season as La Liga’s second-best goalkeeper based on goals conceded, and the best based on the number of saves made."

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/wo...enal-Atletico-Madrid-alerted-6-5m-clause.html

You said he was "miles behind Valdez", but you also said you never heard of him. How could you know he was miles behind if you never heard of him? :p

Hmmm.... That final was at night... But given the amount of people you may be right. Probably before it started...

I don't trust keeper statistics as they are also dependent on the defense in front of them. I'm more interested in a keeper who works in lots of one goal matches on the winning side. Don't get me wrong from what I've seen of him in this WC, he's quite good. Whether he's good enough for one of the big Euro clubs will be interesting to see.

That would make sense if he was at Barcelona or Real, and being bailed out by world-class defenders. Presumably the defenders at his club Levante aren't all that great, though. That makes his stats all the more impressive, IMO.

Do most agree Clasie would be the best player option to replace Dejong?

What about Kuyt and is Blind also best option at that position ^.

    Is Fer available?

I can't imagine Kuyt being left out of the lineup. He was a revelation against Mexico.

I think Clasie is not a defensive minded player but is more of a deep lying play maker like Pirlo so there is a risk in putting him in as a starter. Remember also that he has not seen one minute of action in this WC; it's tough to come in to the starting 11 without any past experience. Blind is the best option as a defensive midfielder simply because of his experience with Ajax this past season.

IMO van Gaal will surprise all of us.

We should play Clasie kuyt and Sneijder in midfield

    .. What?
A deep lying play maker like Pirlo?

Clasie, for feyenoord, for oranje the few matches he played, always excelled at applying high pressure and (secundary) passing out of high pressure situations himself. He wins back balls on the opponents side, and his passing/vision is well above avarage. He is a pitbull. He plays on the opponents half.

If thats not the case, like the tactic for oranje which clearly isnt for him, theres little use in fielding him. Might aswell have Krul play in midfield the way we play ^^

Navas did really look calm and solid. I've been impressed with him. BTW, he was in a nasty collision late in the game vs. Greece, and though he recovered during that game, some report I read saying that he is still nursing the shoulder injury and held back from the training. It's imperative that he gets tested while he's still "cold"... have Sneijder or Robben firing shots early in the game.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Kuyt. Maybe move Blind to Clasie's spot and Kuyt at leftback then.

Nope, vGaal is not stupid, he will not change a winning team. He'll stay with 5-3-2.
My guess is starting lineup will look like this:

    -----------------------------Cillessen-----------------------
    Janmaat-------deVrij-------Vlaar--------BMI-------Blind
    ----------Wijnaldum--------Kuijt---------Sneijder--------
    --------------------Robben---------vPersie-----------------

Yep, that'd be my guess as well, except switching Blind and Kuyt. Blind is more familiar with the DM role, having played there for Ajax. Kuyt has done very well as a LB, and with him pushing forward, the system can easily be transitioned to 3-5-2.

Well, he doesn't have to change the team, just the formation ;) Let's be honest, playing 5-3-2 has resulted in some pretty dire football and we were fortunate to get away with it against Mexico. I don't know if we should keep pushing our luck if it's not absolutely necessary.

The formation will change when we have possession. The key has been to limit the opponents space, but that said I think we should see a more proactive approach when we have the ball.
We should boss this match. Wijnaldum should definitively be in the team too.

Well, I think you watched only Real and Barca...Other reason deosn't exist. He's was outstanding at Levante. Like Ochoa at Ajaccio, but the defense of french team was really poor.

Netherlands should have the lead by late second half but if the game is tied
Huntelaar subbed on again will be a positive for the Dutch attack.

I hope Irmatov calls a better game tomorrow than Carballo called tonight with Brazil/Columbia.

Seeing the punishment Rodriguez and Neymar took tonight, I'd recommend Robben and Van Persie to replace their shin pads with full plate.
