    Polar air mass?

In that case I think the only relevant outcome of all this weather information is if Robben has to play in leggings again or not :D.

I would actually like to see a site along the lines of:

    www.Doesarjerobbennhavetowearleggingsnextgameinbrazilornot.com

Just to keep us updates on this important development at the WC.

yes, cold air fronts form in antartica than go north in the winter. Obviously, they lose strenght when they reach latitude 30 (Porto Alegre).

well... usually. Sometimes they don´t lose that much force.
this is in Gramado, some 100km north of Porto Alegre

Caxias do Sul, second biggest city in the state where Porto Alegre is the capital

maybe more important is if Robben needs a cap to protect his bald head against cold winds? :)

This makes me curious. Does Brazil have any kind of winter sport tradition? Netherlands is ice skating mad. No mountains, so skiing is not a real option and is not really developed. This snow got me thinking. Brazil is not as flat as Netherlands. Is skiing or any other winter sport a thing in Brazil?

A cap you say. I would propose something like this, with an Orange reference in it:

it snows every year in southern Brazil in a few places. But just a few light snowfalls every year, sometimes it accumulates like in the video but for a short time.

the two cities in the video and photo are about 800 meters high, but there are no real high altitude places in southern Brazil, which could see snow staying and accumulating enough for skiing.

that said, the Andes mountains are not that far and there are some awesome skiing places in Argentina and Chile.

    this is southwestern Argentina

in Brazil, this is the best we get

So if we beat Aussies 2 or 3-0, do we then field our B-team for Chile game??

Or still go with our A-team?? Or partial B-team??

Thing is, if Spain beat Chile lets say 3-1 and we beat Aussies 2-0, we are way ahead of Spain in GD.
But do you then trust to go with your B-team vs. Chile after those Spain-Malta match fixing allegations back in the 80's??!! Because I certainly dont.

I would put my A-team out there, wait and see what happens in the Spain game and make my subs accordingly while the game progresses

Let's worry about this after the match is over and I agree with DRB - in van Gaal we trust!

I'm taking one game at a time, one corner kick, one foul, one play...

...and trying real hard to maintain my nails and thumb without biting them off over the next week or so

Based on the last training session it looks like Van Gaal will use a 4-3-3, with Vlaar being benched and Lens starting.

I am guessing there will probably be a last-minute surprise in the making. Few expected JDG to start the last match, but he did. I'd prefer to see Wijnaldum in a center midfield to give more pace in the attack, and he can make a vertical run to the box.

good luck tomorrow. Hope the dutch put a show tomorrow against Australia. I need a good match after the disappointment of Brazil today. If you keep up doing well, maybe I will root for Netherlands to win their first Cup here in Brazil! :)

That is impossible. Maybe Netherlands has 1 more knock out punch against a top county for new entertainment. I consider getting out of the group already a major achievement.

We have an Algerian match official, Mr. Haimoudi, assigned for the match today. It will be his first match of the WC and I don't know whether this is good, bad or indifferent.
