So many people have been waiting for him to be gone. I’ve been over him for 3+ years and I hope everyone else can finally put him in the rear view mirror.
********ing Garber forcing him onto us for another year. Dude's been absolutely non-existent on the roster building side of things, but it'll be nice to erase him from our club, very much how it was nice to see Atul Khosla finally leave.
He has been limited to the business side since new owner came in and doesn't have anything to do with soccer operations so does it matter? Peter Wilt is now involved with the NSIA but if the new owner wanted to put a fan's GM in charge he should have hired Peter back. Worst mistake the Fire ever made was firing Peter. Peter would not have allowed the new logo abomination.
And then given a pink slip. And then made "redundant" and then shown the door (which he should watch to see if it hits him on the ass on the way out).
No, just reinterviewed, so the Fire can deny his employment, since his "track record" running teams is subpar. "Sorry, Nelson, but you are really bad at this whole 'running a soccer team' thing. "Thank you for your time. "Don't call us, we'll call you."
I just want to keep firing him forever. eta - maybe just hire him to be a hot dog vendor, then fire him every time he runs out.
Maybe they can "honor" NR by hanging him up on the Ring of Fire wall but not a symbolic jersey...like actually hang him up there?
Not sure if anyone saw this, but a great commentary from Hristo Stoichkov. I agree with every word that he said! The Fire’s downfall as an organization, and the front office’s intention to alter the club’s original branding, is something that Stoichkov cannot forgive. “I’ll tell you honestly… it pains me that the Chicago Fire are not at that level and it’s because of (general manager) Nelson Rodriguez,” said Stoichkov. “That team doesn’t win and can’t make the playoffs. So I ask myself: why is Nelson Rodriguez there? They have a foreign sporting director… he’s Swiss. Their coach, who doesn’t know anything about MLS, is Swiss. They’re friends. The Chicago Fire don’t deserve to have those people there, especially Nelson Rodriguez. He was a paper pusher in MLS when I got to the league and now he’s a club executive? Please! What are we doing? I don’t know who their president is but how is Chicago’s jersey no longer red? Chicago’s badge is Chicago’s badge. You can’t just change it. That’s nonsense. People shouldn’t forgive Nelson Rodriguez for that. They don’t go to the stadium because of him.”
