Sucks that he seems to leave Europe. Starting today vs Barca though. A bit strange, but game means little Betis have secured CL and can neither climb nor drop in the table. Hope he has a good game.
Yeah he's leaving because of dumb unrelated reasons which makes things worse He was always great and gets sold regardless,.so stupid
Maybe I was watching the Betis games with Colombian tinted glasses on, but this feedback seems kinda harsh. Sometimes I feel like people have the wrong expectations of defensive / holding midfielders but I thought Deossa, in his limited minutes, did as good of a job as possible. sure he made an errant pass from time to time, but who plays mistake free footy?
I am about as neutral as it gets toward Deossa. He is not as great as some people think he is. He is definitely not as bad as other people say he is. He is someone to keep an eye on heading into next cycle.
fair on all points. While it was nice of Nestor to discover Puerta, i think there were chances over the past 6 friendlies to give a player like Deossa minutes to provide cover for guys like Rios / Lerma. i think Deossa could be more valuable than Castano / Portilla. But yes - hopefully players like Deossa and Solis can be viable options next cycle
It is just one of those things where he went with guys he knows and trusts. Even Puerta was called up to train with the team a few times earlier in the cycle. I don’t think there was any chance to really call Deossa or play him in any of these last six friendlies. Especially knowing now what we know about Deossa’s off the field criticisms and behaviors
It's one of those things that I posted a while ago. Deossa is a weird player, not a defensive or holding midfield, but plays almost like an old school LM/RM. Reminds me alot like Elkin Soto. At Betis he's more centered and plays in the back, but the man likes to run in the wings alot.
I have noticed this too. Which is why I thought maybe he had a chance to be utilized like a J Arias who started at wing and then was used more centrally and then goes pretty much anywhere on the field Lorenzo tells him to go.
I think we can still use him, but I would that would require to reduce our forward or midfielder position from "regular" call ups.
Lo siento pero con esta actitud, Nelson Deossa no puede seguir ni un minuto más en el @RealBetis . Te puedes ir por donde has venido. @TinteroVB @los_comegambas @ElMagoBotas_ @RBB_betis_1907 @BetisBohemio @GxlDeFekir pic.twitter.com/ZU1HTw7E9G— Fran Rodríguez 📸 (@franrodnav) May 23, 2026
