http://skysports.planetfootball.com...tle=Barrett+set+for+MLS+move&channel=scotland Thought you guys may like to see this. I wish I could give some insight on him but I don't know anything about him or his play.
From Barrett: "The facilities are top class and the stadium is amazing so it would be a dream move." Has this guy even seen the facilities and the artificial turf?? He's talking like he's going to Old Trafford! Barrett could fill in one of our international slots.
It's not a bad stadium. Only problem is that there's seldom anybody in it when the Metros are playing.
He was here for a trial about 4-6 weeks ago and apparently impressed. He was quoted as saying when he left that he hoped to get an offer. He is a former Chelsea guy in his youth and is still relativly young.
After a very quick web search, it seems that Barrett might be an attacking midfielder. Unless he plays d-mid, do we really need him? http://www.dundee-mad.co.uk/news/loadrprt.asp?cid=MTCH&id=214957
Nothing like getting attendnace smack from a rapids fan. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
23 years old! You have to like that! And 23 yrs old with experience! If he, McGee, Gaven all mature together, hit their stride at the same time Metro could be a nice little team!
He was under contract through the end of the 2004-2005 season, correct? If so, wouldn't he be subject to the transfer window and unavailable until August 15th?
He was released on a free by Dundee who was relagated. From what I have gathered, he plays d-mid in the Richard Mulrooney style; not necessarily a destroyer but a good man marker....
Hey, watching a Rapids game at Invesco Fireld is great. Especially if you're somebody who likes to stretch out a bit and not get too crowded.
they're still on a high from having their stadium half-filled with families who could have cared less about the game and were waiting for fireworks
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/...ootball--yankee-doodle-dundee--name_page.html sounds like he has done his homework. talks about a new stadium, Djorkaeff, Meola, Agoos. Says the league is on par with the SPL. and perhaps the most interesting quote to me ``Their set-up is like night and day compared to Dundee, where you trained either on a public park or in a sports hall."
He seems to be a class guy as well ... rooting for Dundee and the team even while he's already out the door. If he's a Richard Mulrooney type player, I can see him taking Lisi's D-mid spot pretty soon. Other bits of info ... he used to play for Portsmouth and was brought up through the Chelsea Youth Academy. He has Ronnie O'Brien written all over him.
We hope. Plus, after reading the article, he has the proper attitude. Hope he works out more like Ian Bishop (playing ability) than Ronnie O'Brien. We need some one in midfield.
Nice little article. He seems pumped up and axious to get to NYC. It's not often you hear or read about the enthisiam some foreign players have coming here. Sometimes you get the feeling they are heading over here for a retirement spot or it's their only choice. Not knowing anything about him, I'm now eager to watch him play and I like the fact he's still has plenty of years left in the tank.
Sounds promising for the Metros -- hope it goes well. Shouldn't we see more of these types of players come on over? As the league gains viability (as well as credibility), you would think more of the younger guys that started in an EPL youth system and didn't pan out initially would explore MLS as an option.
Exactly. This kid ain't nowhere near retirement age. It looks as if he wants a fresh start and he wants it to be here. Cool.
