story here intresting read from todays times on how a new deal with fly Emirates could hinge on raising international awareness of the club, especially during the u.s. tour.however the marketing community is awash with speculation that Emirates will be dropped in favour of a more recognisable global brand. some companys have already been name droped as possible successors to fly emirates such as Siemens, T-Mobile and Orange, and the club could be demanding a fee of over 24million pounds which is the current amount that the club is recieveing from their deal.

It would make sense for Orange to take over the Club sponsorship as Orange signed a three year deal yesterday to provide all of the Chelsea Club news, interviews, behind the scenes, goal action etc through mobile phones on its Orange World service. Just hope Orange wouldn't expect Chelsea to play in Orange shirts LOL
thats just a load of crap. emirates is a top class airline and was voted best airline in 2001. they also sponsor the australian rugby team and cricket team. the only peopl who are losing out is chelsea. i dont think any other club being sposonsored by one of the world's richest airlines will be complaining
No one in the US has any idea who FlyEmirates are, nor do they care that it was voted best airline 3 years ago. This isn't about the "quality" of the sponsor, but all about shirt recognition. I imagine they're hoping for someone like Budweiser, or another recognizable name. I've never particulary liked FlyEmirates, to be honest.
Wow, you really like this airline. Anyway... If Orange sponsors the team, you can count on the away strip being orange.
Are you, an Englander, telling me, an American, what Ameicans do or don't recognize? You ARE ZANI. I said that's what they'd be looking for. All the same to me, unless it somehow involves Catherine Zeta Jones.
With Roman's billions why do you guys need a shirt sponsor? A Chelsea shirt without the corporate badges on it would look real nice ( I cannot believe I just typed that).
While true, I've always been a big fan of the Barca idea - no shirt sponsors. (I think they'll sell out in the next decade though.) I'd like to see a shirt with no sponsor, but with Kenyon being the marketing guru that he supposedly is, its just not going to happen. Having "Budweiser" or something similar is just too much of a name recognition advantage to pass up.
Why not "Speaker City", where Beanie is "dropping prices on everything from beepers to DVD players". Maybe Frank the Tank could streak at half time.
Does this mean Snoop would play during half time? Not sure how well that would go over at the Bridge.
only problem would be the customary BLURRED OUT LOGO SHOT'S in the video,it'd just look like a old blue t-shirt,lol
what he said. shirt with no sponsor is just class. however in this capitalist environment it aint going to happen is it? everyone will be selling shirt space very soon. only a matter of time before the yank jerseys get covered like NASCAR cars. sponsors logo’s look better than words imho
first off lad's sorry for draging back this old thread but i though it'd be better than just starting a new one on the same subject anyway today the club confirmed that emirates will no longer be the clubs sponsor.so from the wording of this statement it does look like the'll be going for a more global'ly reconised brand name.now going back to the first story they mentioed the deal with orange mobile phone company,so they could be a possiblity, but surely orange are'nt a big enough brand name, siemen's maybe? link
