Comming out to NE for the game on the 19th. Can anyone recomend a cheap but decent hotel. I stayed at I think a Quality INN just on the other side of the RI border. Also the fastest way from Columbus would be nice to. Thanks Rob
The "Razor" is a couple of miles off rt. 95, between Boston and Providence. If you're taking 90 across NY, take it into Mass to rt. 495 south, to 95 north, follow signs for the stadium. If you're taking a more southern route, you have at least 3 ways to get to 95: 1) Go straight into Manhattan and head towards the Triboro bridge, follow signs for 95 and N.E. Thruway. 2)NJ Turnpike north to rt. 95, across George Washington Bridge, Cross-Bronx Expwy (there's an advernture!) to 95/N.E. Thruway. 3) If you want to avoid NYC, you can come farther north in Jersey and catch the Tappan Zee Bridge to 287 (Cross-Westchester Expwy) to 95N near the Conn. border.
Rkupp, Don't you mean : From 495 south, take Route #1 North. The stadium is on route1 and it comes one exit before 95. Eliminates some backtracking. And you didn't tell him about the extra toll booths for those cars with Ohio license plates.
I've stayed at the Walpole Motel before...0.7 miles from the Stadium, fairly cheap and clean.... List of Hotels For driving: 70-East 79-North 90-East 87-South 90-East 495-South 95-North
Sounds like a better idea, thanks. I usually come from the north and once or twice from the southeast.
be aware that depending on when you're coming that 95N through and after NYC can be a nightmare. you'll want to avoid week day rush hour or it'll take you 4-5 hours to get through connecticut, which should only take 2-3 otherwise.
i would too actually 90 through that same stretch you can easily fly through, and it'll take you to 495 directly into foxborro before you have to worry about any boston traffic.
Thanx for the info, How is that Casino in CT. How far is it? Is it worth going to or is a night in boston better off? Rob
I live in Boston but grew up right next to both of the casinos, they're both about an hour, hour and half away, maybe little bit more. Foxwoods is a tremendously expansive place, lots of everything. But Moheagan Sun is a little bit nicer and it's a little easier to find accomidations there. Plenty of fun stuff to do in Boston however, bars/clubs etc.
I'd second maxim-1's comments. Foxwoods is huge and Mohegan Sun is a bit more intimate. Foxwoods seems very much like a resort casino in Vegas while Mohegan Sun is a bit more decorated in native American theme. Both places will happily take your money, though Personally, I'm not a big gambler, so I'd prefer to wander around Boston on what could be a beautiful spring day instead of sitting or wandering around a casino. But, that's my preference.
