I noticed a lot of people on here listen to indie rock. I haven't paid much attention to the indie scene in the last three years, so maybe someone can throw some band names my way as recommendations. Preferrably something along the lines of one of these: Belle and Sebastian, Sleater-Kinney, Elliott Smith, Apples in Stereo, Yo la Tengo, Tortoise, etc. Thanks.

If you like Elliot Smith, check out Iron and Wine, or maybe St Thomas.

Bright Eyes doesn't get much love around here. Well, at least I haven't seen him mentioned on the one or two indie related threads that I've read. Conner Oberst is a fantastic song writer, although some may not care for his whiny, nasally voice. His newest album: "Lifted: or the Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground" is excellent, as was "Fevers and Mirrors". I would highly recommend Bright Eyes.
