I'm planning to be in Rome on January 26th with my wife and young son, and am interested in attending a Lazio game. I understand that they have a home game on that date. Does anyone know how to purchase tickets, how to get to the stadium and what sections are appropriate for a family. Any other relevant info is helpful. We'll be staying in the historic district of Rome, near the Forum. Thanks for the help.
The Stadio Olimpico is north of the city, but there are bus lines that service it. See this site http://www.footballinrome.co.uk/transportstadium.html I bought tickets for a Roma match from a scalper before the game. http://www.footballinrome.co.uk/tickets.html I think just about anywhere in the stadium would be suitable for a family, but if you want to avoid the "tifosi" stay out of the Curva Nord (where Lazio fans are) or Curva Sud (that's Roma territory). http://www.footballinrome.co.uk/stadium.html
I was just in Rome prior to Christmas myself and stayed near where you are planning on. Its a less than 10 Euro cab ride to the Olimpico. I wouldn't worry about scalpers or buying before hand online -- Lazio face Reggina that day so there should be tickets available at the windows before the match. There's diagrams by the ticket windows so you can pick out what section you want, good seats for between 30 and 65 Euros. Agreed with the last post -- stay out of the Curva Nord and you'll be fine with your family....
