Please post any info or pics here about the team that is moving to the city Aguascalientes in 2003. I have searced the internet and have come up emty handed. Maybe I have been looking in the wrong places.
Name change in 2003? I know it is not likely, but I would like to see Necaxa start a new era in Aguascalientes no longer being second best to America in the Azteca. New city, new stadium...new name? Maybe Atletico Aguascalientes or Atletico San Marcos. What do you all think? I know there has to be a few Necaxa supporters out there. I wanted to submit my ideas to their official website, but it appears they no longer have one. They had one as of last year.
Re: Name change in 2003? Then it wouldnt be Necaxa.. A club that has a long history and Championships does not need to change its name. Hopefully Aguascalientes can embrace this Club as it has been an ugly duckling for too long. One thing i wouldnt mind them changing would be their kit colors. It would be cool if they had a kit similiar to AC Milan. It wouldnt be that drastic a change. Just switching the white stripe to red. Then it wouldnt look like Chivas Uniform.. And before anyone says it would look like Atlas, remeber that it will be Red and Black Stripes with White shorts. If Not then just get rid of the stripes and keep it predominantly White with Red on the sides or Top (Shoulders) and ditch the green..
Re: Re: Name change in 2003? A lot of people in Mexico do not consider this Necaxa the same one with the long history. When the team was bought out in the 70's and the name changed to Atletico Espanol, many Nexaca fans felt betrayed and just never went back. Even with the heavy promoting the 'new' Necaxa attempted (free entrance to kids wearing Necaxa colors, etc), the fan base just never expanded. Fans also were not happy when Televisa yanked Necaxa players to beef up America. As VS once stated - they were Televisa's red-headed step child. The move to Aguascalientes is a good one for them. I do hope they keep the Necaxa name though, it would be a shame to drop it like it was once dropped.
After reading you posts... I would then be happy with at least a kit change. The red and white does not work for me. How would you feel about incorporating the Arcos de San Marcos into the crest or something like that. Sort of the way Queretaro has the aqueduct in theirs. I have pics of the stadium construction progress, but do not know how to post them. I tried to upload/download them to my ISP webspace but failed. My cousin should be sending me some more pics in the future.
Re: Re: Re: Name change in 2003? A lot of people in Mexico do not consider this Necaxa the same one with the long history. When the team was bought out in the 70's and the name changed to Atletico Espanol, many Nexaca fans felt betrayed and just never went back. Actually, they felt betrayed by the owners themselves. Televisa was not even around back then. After their president was assisinated back in 41-42, the owners' heirs were thinking more about the money/control/power, than the the club itself. The union leaders tried to keep the club going since the workers owned the club. But they couldnt do it. They couldnt manage or pay the bills. What really pissed off the Nexaxa fans back then was that Nexaca did not join the 1st National professional league in MExico. The league was young and was going to be lenient. Necaxa lost its fans way before Teleivsa became its owner and way before the 70s. Televisa was the best thing that ever happened to Necaxa. It got them back to stardom. The 90s belonged to Necaxa. I dont know any club that can have an average of 5 thousand fans a week, and the owners are still willing to invest on them. Televisa tried everything in their power to market them and regain its fans base. But the loyalty was not there anymore. Cruz Azul and Pumas became powerhouses in the 70s and alot of Ex Nexaca fans became loyal to them. We all remember Don Ramon (from the show "Chavo") saying, "Pues, yo le voy al Necaxa" and the audience would luagh. Necaxa changed thier name to Atl. Español in 1970 and for Don Ramon to say that during the 70s was funny. I remember as a kid during the mid 80s, a friend of mine would come over and we would watch Chesperito and all that stuff. He was not from MExico. And he asked me what was the significance of that. In order for you to understand that Don Ramonismo, you had to know some of the history behind Necaxa and Mexican soccer.
I wonder what Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo feels about Necaxa moving to Aguascalientes. He is a huge Necaxa fan. In the show "Hasta que la muerte nos separe" he always had Necaxa penants and posters on the wall. There is a pic of Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo with the lovely Isabel Madow on the right Changing topics... Speaking of el Chavo, I always wondered why Don Ramon would say he was a Necaxa fan when he had an America Pennant hangin in his living room. HAhA Classic El Chavo is truly a masterpiece. 30+ years and its still a hit. "Fue sin querer Quierendo" jajaja Does anybody watch that show still? I still love it and still watch it.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Name change in 2003? I didn't mean to imply that it was all Televisa's fault. It was sort of an accumulation of things. And like you said, you gotta give kudos to Televisa for attempting to keep them going. And when Necaxa kept having more success than America and the powers-that-be dismantled Necaxa to beef up America to no avail, how else were folks to feel ? You know RDL, one of my sisters is a big Necaxa fan and she still remembers the 'dismantling' year with a vengeance. Whenever Cruz Azul is having a particularly bad time I can always come back with 'At least Cruz Azul doesn't get dismantled by their owners that care more about their other teams' Also, you are 100% correct about Don Ramon.

And like you said, you gotta give kudos to Televisa for attempting to keep them going. And when Necaxa kept having more success than America and the powers-that-be dismantled Necaxa to beef up America to no avail, how else were folks to feel ? The fans were not really there to begin with. And it is safe to say during Necaxa's current success, most of the fans were bandwagoners. Take Cruz Azul or Chivas or America or Leon or Pumas, their fans are loyal through the good times or bad times. A lot of people say that the biggest Rivalry in Mexico use to be the Necaxa-Atlante match. This was of course before the professional league started. Reporters from all over the nation use to say that it was bigger than the Atlas-Chivas or the America-Club España or Reforma. Atlante lost some of it prestige through the years. Televisa tried to get that back for them. I just dont think in this day and age that another team could survive in Mexico City. I dont care what coach you bring or what players you hire, America, Cruz Azul, and Pumas is Mexico City. There is no more room for Necaxa or Atlante. I think Atlante should move as well. They should move. You know RDL, one of my sisters is a big Necaxa fan and she still remembers the 'dismantling' year with a vengeance. Whenever Cruz Azul is having a particularly bad time I can always come back with 'At least Cruz Azul doesn't get dismantled by their owners that care more about their other teams' Well, the fact that Cruz Azul Hidalgo plays in the second divsion and has not been able to move up into the second division tells me one of 2 things: They want to keep them in the second division or they dont care enough to inject the proper funds into the club.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Name change in 2003? Cruz Azul Hidalgo is a feeder team and Cruz Azul has made no effort to hide the fact. A couple of years ago CA Hidalgo almost made it to the first division and Billy Alvarez fully stated that if they did make it to division one, the team would be sold and moved while a new Cruz Azul Hidalgo would be placed back in the Second Division (not 1A).
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Name change in 2003? But is that fair to the fans of Cruz Azul Hidalgo? Dont get me wrong, I think each club should have different owners, whether they are in the first or 4th division. But i would rather have an owner who injects money inot the club and with the intension to have them in the top flight. By not allowing them to progress, you manipulate the competition. I am not saying they lose intentionally but dont do enough. Grupo Televisa gets criticized for owning different clubs, but at least their teams win and at least they inject money into thier program. Whether they give preference to one club or not could be subjective or even objective depending on what side you look at it from. Club America has always had more fan base than hte other clubs. So is it wrong for them to treat each club differently? I didnt see any bad intentions when they tried to revitalize the old rivalry between Necaxa and Atlante. But like I said, they lost thier fan base long before Televisa ever acquired them. Its a deal that didnt really didnt work in Televisa's favor, but nothing corrupt about it. Let assume Grupo Televisa rids themselves of Necaxa. What do you think will happen? They will lose even more fan base. And probabaly will fall and never be seen again in the first division.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Name change in 2003? Well, for fans of Cruz Azul Hidalgo, they know exactly where the team stands and what it's there for. I like Cruz Azul Hidalgo. It's tough now that Azteca doesn't televise their home games like they used to a few years ago but I still like to hear when they do well. Really, if people choose to follow a feeder team it's because they want to see live footie every fortnight. Same for folks who follow say the Modesto A's (taking a Baseball analogy) I would suspect that most CA Hidalgo fans are also CA fans. It's not that CA Hidalgo are not allowed to progress, it's that if they should progress, they would be sold. I think Billy Alvarez would have been very happy had CA Hidalgo made it to the first division. Heck, they almost did it. Fact is that this particular team is clearly a feeder team and their first priority is to develop young talent. If they do that and also move up, then so be it, that situation would be remedied should it present itself. Not at all. And if folks that are Necaxa fans are OK with that, then that's fine. It's just very difficult not to see who the favorite son is. I personally would have a very tough time being a Necaxa fan, but that's me. It's sort of like being an MLS fan of a small market team, you go in with the understanding that the league will always favor the big market teams. Corruption is always something that gets thrown Televisa's way because of their futbol ownerships. Heck, how many people still have suspicions on the last Necaxa/America finals. I don't believe in it simply because Televisa knows there's too much at stake should the majority of futbol followers buy into that. Well, I think the Nexaca fan base is down to the true die-hards so it's hard to imagine them losing even more fans. Whether they would fall forever really depends on the new owners. It would be interesting if TV Azteca were to buy them.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Name change in 2003? Is Televisa still looking to offload Necaxa? Aren't they planning on waiting to see how things go in Aguascalientes? I don't think Necaxa will fall forever. I think they will receive alot of support both fans and sponsprs in Aguascalientes that they did not recieve in D.F.. There is alot of industry in Aguascalientes who I think would like to support the team as a sponsor.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Name change in 2003? Haven't heard anything like that (Televisa offloading Necaxa), we were just speculating.
Necaxa official thread [R] I decided to revive this site after the great B.S. crash of 2002 took its life. Ok, I need help here... I have some good pics of the new stadium being built in Aguascalientes for Necaxa. I would like to post them here for all to see but do not know how to. I have AOL and am aware about FTP "my space" where I can upload the pics which I think I know how to to. What I need to know is how to extract the photos from FTP "my space" so that I can get the URL so that I can then copy and paste the link here. Any help will be appreciated.
gracias por poner las fotos, te hubiera ayudado pero no había visto los mensajes, el estadio se ve chico, pero no creo que necesiten mas
