The DC FO has done a great job of hiding the travelling Sounders fans out of the way in the upper deck, no where to be seen. You wouldn't have even known they were there if the Screaming Eagles hadn't been "gesturing" (as they said on FSC) to them. :D

This game is a good example of sometimes a 0-0 score can be a good game.

    DAMN DAMN DAMN.

Now they'll rename the damn thing the Seattle Sounders Cup and it will be the most important trophy in soccer.
Until the next thing they win.

great game on both sides. better than 2007's snoozefest between NE & Dallas.

i agree the only thing out of place was wick's trying to stomp montero's hand.

Can we ban Fishie Montero from life yet?

I tell you this -- I don't trust Montero. Wicks was acting like he avoided Montero. Montero was acting like Wicks stomped him. In all the video -- you really can't tell what really happened.

I don't trust Montero. Montero is more likely to be faking than Wicks is to have lost his head and stomped Montero. I'm not saying I know what happened ... I'm just saying that Montero is a faking cheating liar. Perhaps Wicks really got him this time ... but I kinda suspect he didn't.

Having said all that -- it looked bad. I understand the card.

i agree. i thought the exact same thing donjuego. montero may've faked it, buuuuuuuut........

if i was the ref i would of gave the red card anyways for "intent" (which i think is what you're getting at). he took a swipe at him.

As much as I am starting to dislike Seattle, I kind of like that they are in next year's CCL (presumably, at least the prelim round) so they can get worn out going to Central America from Seattle to play FC Devalued Currency on Wed. nights for a few weeks.

I'm telling you, this CCL is going to be an albatross around teams that qualify for it until schedules change or roster depth is increased greatly.

just back from the game. DCU had a rough game tonight. Very little offense

The Wicks call did not seem appropriate. Wicks did not appear to make unintentional contact. Montero grabbed untouched body parts.

i hate to agree with the cosmo, but i agree with the cosmo. Im starting to hate seattle and i think they are a better rivalry to dynamo than fc frisco and san ho se. i just hope we meet them in the playoffs and get our revenge. also, i like that they are in the CCL.. seattle looks like they will be a good top tier team for a couple years to come, and im glad the ccl will soften em' up for us next year as we all hunt for the playoffs.

"fc devalued currency"= lol, how about "fc we play in the jungle but cant grow grass so we use synthetic... yeah.... doesnt roll of the tongue like fc devalued currency...;))

I agree with you that they now get the added pleasure of the CCL with the limitations imposed. The thing I am looking forward to though is how the turnout for these games will be for them. If they have decent crowds how bad will that make the rest of MLS look in comparison? Especially if they market these games the way I think they will and the rest of MLS teams don't.

My understanding is that they're the first team to ever win the USOC. Next year, they will be the first MLS team to ever play in the CCL.

That was one of the best games I've seen between MLS sides this season. Nice aggressive soccer and both teams looked like they really wanted the win. I'm with everyone else in my dislike for the Freddies, but you have to admit that both of them make stuff happen.

Wicks...To me it looked intentional and the card was deserved, but am I the only one who empathized with Wicks? Come on guys, admit it. You'd love to stomp Freddy too!

definitely looked intentional...the sad thing is that he was having a fantastic game and was pretty much keeping DCU in the game single-handed...looked purely to be a brain-fart gone awry...the strange thing is that even if he gets Rico-level punishment, I am sure it can only be issued for USOC games...

Great read in a W.Post blog about the Seattle traveling support and the DCU support:
