There is an inspiring article in the NYT about a youth soccer program in a small city in Georgia. It's a long one but well worth the read.
I second that. Great article. Someone posted it on MLS boards earlier and found myself reading the whole thing even though it was fairly lengthy. What I thought was very interesting are the culture clashes between the soccer-playing immigrants and the football and baseball-loving southerners.
I would venture to say that soccer is well repesented in Georgia. It's persons like Mayor Swaney that view soccer as foreign. As one of those "soccer people",I would like to put my foot up his a-hole. It's hard to believe what all these kids have gone through.and soccer being their only escape from all the ugly past.and then have someone want to screw with you about that too. I wish the Fugees well.
