If the USA wins Group A (Biiig if) and Argentina wins Group D then the semi-final game at NRG Stadium could be USA v Argentina. That would be THE event of the decade. I have my tickets.

That would be if they both win their quarterfinal encounters to make the Houston staged semi finals Don right???

I just like the feeling that this tournament and the build up for it reminds me of World Cup USA'94 but this time I fully expect our sports culture to not only dive in like that Summer in '94 but have evolved to where the sport is so much more appreciated, even by the casual sports enthusiast, that each of these games play out in front of lots of fans n lots of media coverage that gets the importance of such a Copa America in unified form on our soil.

Its a big event but I think this country has been so saturated with summer soccer exhibitions and everything else that I question how much folks will really get into this tournament. And its on Fox not ESPN which hurts exposure.

I hear that on the over saturation from exhibitions during our Summer months.
I would like to think that our media and now fully evolved soccer fan base knows when an actual tournament is being staged over one off friendlies that the importance factor is upped significantly.

On the TV coverage from FOX versus ESPN, this topic is a wash for me as I have and will continue to rely on free TV the good Lord intended humans to enjoy their sports coverage. Like when Monday Night Football went from ABC and free TV to ESPN and the demand for going somewhere to find a friend of bar with ESPN just to watch what you used to watch for decades for free every Monday night in the Fall, that pissed me off to the point that MNF lost a viewer in a way.
With pro soccer in our nation there is always Unvision or Telemundo that is carrying the big Summer tournaments. I always watch their coverage over ESPN or Fox. Better and more significantly more lengthy coverage with pre and post game coverage. Fox or ESPN will immediately cut to a NASCAR event after a big Brasil vs. Colombia match for example.

I'd be happy if we get out of group. The way things are going I wouldn't be confident of much of anything. If nothing else this tournament is a great warmup for the Hex this fall and next year.

This is a major tournament, and should be treated as one. It's time for US Soccer to put on their big boy pants, and be ready to mix it up with the giants. The USMNT need to go into this with confidence, and composure.

Right. I considered that fact implied.

I don't know why you would expect details from anyone named Donald.

    Was watching the draw live.

After the USA drew Paraguay and Costa Rica, I already knew we were screwed. Didn't matter who the 3rd team was.

    My prediction for the USA.

    USA 1 - 1 Costa Rica

    USA 0 - 2 Colombia

    USA 1 - 2 Paraguay

    One draw and two losses.

Paraguay will be very difficult to score against because they play defensive South American football, but we should beat them, and Costa Rica, if we play attacking football. Colombia will obviously be world class, but it's time to show some style, and heart.

What is the word on tickets for this? They had the venue pass for all the games, but I didnt see anything for individual games.

Great...just the two things this team has been lacking for the better part of 2 years now.

Cam has been the only bright spot for the USMNT. Yedlin is out of control.

Bradley has been a horrible turnover machine.

    Bradley looked terrible to me.

    Klinsmann's failed era continues

i had a hard time finding any facet of the game where i could say we were positive or the won.

that was abysmal really. not even close to being competitive.

even if we win 4-0 on Tuesday, i don't think we are even close to being in the upper echelon of quality teams

I can barely watch the US team anymore, and it is painful because I love the team. When will my suffering at the hands of Klinsmann stop?

It was just sad, being down 0-2 and Columbia was able to string together 20-30 passes to a chorus of "Ola".

Technically we suck, but we sure can run around......remind you of anyone?

I've been looking forward to seeing this game for a long time. I knew we would not likely win, but I expected a better response in the second half. I'm disappointed that they just gave up.

Geez Costa Rica and Paraguay both look like they rather roll around on the ground than play soccer.

Not overly concerned about the USA's play. They've been playing like that for the last several years and this is nothing new. The minute they were drawn into that group, they really didn't have much of a chance.

As one put it on Twitter, "When was the last time you saw the USA play well in a non-friendly?"

    I couldn't remember. 2010?

Most of the Portugal game was pretty good at the World Cup
