I disagree. I believe Bob has earned the job, at least through the next year or so.

Good move. This needed to be done awhile back.

I guess Sunil won't get a yellow or red card from Wynalda this week.

I'm still undecided on whether Bradley is a good choice or not. But now that he is the coach I'm glad he's got the interim tag lifted... that was a really stupid idea to begin with. On the other hand... I still wish Klinsmann was coach.

The good move that needed to be done awhile back was voting Gulati off the island. Whom I would have chosen to the side for a second, should it take 10 months to name a "permanent" head coach? They made the decision on Arena no later than August last year officially (and perhaps earlier than that unofficially). By late last year their impasse with Kilinsi was final. And here it is May of 2007, and he's finally made a decision? Wow.

I don't think anyone is 100% happy with how this went down (people either dislike the process but not the result, or detest both), which is a bad sign about his administration of US Soccer.

Those folk who believed some foreign coach could walk in and create miracles was not facing reality. All this talk about Klinsman, Houllier and Quieroz was rubbish.

I'm delighted Bob Bradley got the job. Three wins and one tie in the four games in charge obviously paid off.

Bob is the best American for the job-as much as I would like to see Klinsman (after evrything he said about Landon after WC02) he wasn't the right guy-he would never be allowed back in Germany if he took the job-then again he doesn't go back much anyway. Boob will do fine-he knows the players and MLS-he can get the most out of what he's got-not sure if Klinsman could-he seemed to be more of the tactician than than the motivator.

Enough with the talk about Klinsman. He was the coach of Germany a team that always does very well in the World cup. It's not like he took a bad team and made it better. He took them back to the semis to lose again. By the way don't you actually have to coach to be called a coach. If anything the German soccer federations assistant coaches should get the credit. It's hard to coach the German soccer team from so cal. Bob Bradley knows american soccer better than anyone and makes way better in game decisions than fat bruce.

You probably did not watch any Germany games , before Klinsmann took over.
I did !The game style / system was boring ! He made sure , that we play attractive football again .We were one of the best teams in WC 06 !
Gulati did not want to give 100 % decision power to Klinsmann , so Klinsman declined the offer . That simple .
Will see next WC , how far the USA gets with Bradley ......Arena did in my oppinion a bad job .

Arena tried to become a master tactician and fool the oppossing teams. He ended up fooling himself. 1 forward?!?!??!???!?? The USMNT is not good enought to beat Czech or Italy with only 1 forward. Beasley on the right? Do I need to go on?

He should of stuck to the tactics that got us qualified, with some tweaks here and there.

    One forward, geez.

Oh, and congrats to Bradley for doing a good job in an awkward scenario. I'm confident he'll get us some good results.

That's the only thing I didn't like about it, there's no reason it should take 10 months to name Bradley the coach. They could have had him 5 minutes after firing Bruce. And they should have made a decision as soon as Klinsmann started jerking them around.

If you noticed, he's kept doing this with Red Bull, and while it was enough against us, it's not been sufficient the past 3 games. He has Altidore and Angel, and he sends one to the bench?

Am I really hearing this bullshit choice. Bradley has yet to prove a f,ucking thing on his coaching abilities. We've beaten crap teams, and at home for that matter and poeple are honestly ********ing impressed? Big ********ing deal.Gulati and the entire USSF can kiss my hairy ass. The whole ********ing thing pisses me off. Why not Klinnsman, Parreira, Scolari, Quieroz, or whoever has proven themselves in REALLLLLLLLLLLL international competition. For the luv of God if anyone high up in the US soccer world is reading, "THERE IS NO US STYLE OF PLAY"!! "WHY WOULD you WANT TO CONTROL A GODSEND OF A COACH, WHEN YOU YOURSELF UP UNTIL RECENTLY HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT A FAN"? I honestly dont expect shit out of past maybe quarterfinals if that in Copa America, let alone the WC. The whole system need to be torn down and rebuilt. Start the campaign now, STOP THE RECYCLING OF US SOCCER COACHES!!!!!!!!!11

Well considering they havent beat us in close to 10 years now, the games to me are now just a hard fought gauranteed win. If anything I wouldnt mind knowing why Mexico doesent have a WC trophy considering the extremely long soccer history in that country.

Frankly, if there was one foreign coach that I would have absolutely wanted to grab it would have been Hiddink but the Russians (quite wisely) grabbed him first.

In the list above, really only Scolari would be a great choice and I believe he's still contracted with Portugal.

I wouldn't be real big on Parreira or Queiroz. Klinsmann obviously wasn't too thrilled with the idea or he would have jumped at the chance and I would preferably want a coach who would be excited about the possiblities with the USMNT.

Scolari is out after the Euro, he's already announced. He's priming himself for the England job. He wants to be the first coach to win 2 WCs with different teams. He thought he could do it with P-gal, but no go. If he would have coached England instead of Eriksson...I'm thinking he would have won the WC. He's a great motivator and he gave P-gal self-belief, something that was lacking for a LONG time. I think he could do the same with England and Spain and win the next WC, since they are deeper squads than P-gal.

Now, if they win the Euro...he may want to stay another couple with P-gal. But that's a big IF.

that was not the case . Gulati didn't give Klinsmann 100 % decision power .
In Germany he got that , and he changed a lot (The German Football Ass. has 100 yr old CEO leaders !!!! ).
Never mind , the USA made their decision with Bradley .....

Let's all sit back and take a deep breath. No recognised international coach e.g. Scolari, Hiddink etc. would accept the offer to coach our national team in its present stage of evolution.

The finger pointing at Bruce Arena in his handling of our World Cup demise is very unfair. He was well aware that our U.S. squad was not of a high standard and lacked match dominating players of world quality. Arena saw players in an MLS enviornment where they look better than they really are. To his credit he worked hard to create opportunities to observe the likes of Donovan, Pope etc. in tougher competitive settings. But friendly games are not the proper events in which to blood talent. If a player consistently plays in a weak league he will encounter great difficulty in lifting his game against stiffer opposition.

The MLS is really in its infancy and we must learn to crawl before we walk. It will gradually improve over the next decade and we'll see more of our young players going to Europe. In the meantime we don't need a Scolari or Hiddink to coach the U.S. team. Bob Bradley deserves the opportunity to work and grow with our squad!

While your opinion is a valid reasonable one, I defenitely look at differently. The new coaches job wouldnt have just been to coach the USMNT, but the Olympic team and head our youth system. We cant sit here and say the team will grow together when none of them really know what the next level looks or feels like.Scolari Klinsmann and Quieroz all know what it is to play and coach the best of the best. All of them have meaningful championships under their belts. Scolari, and Klinsmann won world cups, and Quieroz damn near helped take the champions league, but still won the EPL with what was a shaky ManU squad last season. And MLS Cup, or a US Open championship isnt worth jack in the international world. And contrary to popular belief, those coaches really were interested in the job, and all of them knew that the non-existant US style of play is one of our most major problems keeping our youth from really playing to their potential. Klinsmann especially knew this, which another reason they battled for so long until he jus said ******** it. Jus working with the Galaxy he knew what was wrong with or boys and was eager to fix it. I'll say it again Gulati and the USSF screwed many players, fans and prospects for years to come with this. We exchanged Prada for a footlocker plain white tee.
