The one in my hometown was Vereingung Erzgeberge (which has qualified for the First Round proper of the USOC this year). Then there of course was 1 FC Phoenix, and UGH (the German-Hungarians) nearby. FC Delco wasn't yet known in my day. I think UGH was once in the old ASL. None of those was in the league I played in, though we did play a club on a field next to Burpees HQ in my hometown.
Look out, fellas. Christian Ramirez is getting licensed. https://cwcolumbus.com/sports/colum...an-ramirez-working-towards-future-in-coaching
I would say Sack Christian Ramírez Now but I don't want to ruffle Ch(Elsey)'s feathers. Pink Slip Christian Ramírez Now! Is that better?
They won't be the best gloves, but play it again will have them. Dicks will probably have them. I used to buy a couple cheap pairs for communal use by my teams
Aren't you in Dublin? Have you tried Soccer Village? Since moving to their new spot they've increased their inventory quite a bit. If they don't have it then they can definitely order it.
Probably just amazon then as your best bet. TBD on the quality, but you probably don't need to worry about that at 9.
Anyone have any inside knowledge on the rumor about switching back to school year age brackets? I'm skeptical, and it has been rumored multiple times since they made the change to calendar year so I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but there certainly seems to be a lot of smoke around it this time. The one I don't think I can see happening is that ECNL only will change to school year age brackets next year. Logistics of that with ECNL clubs that have teams in other leagues, plus standard tourneys, etc., make me think it's just too convoluted to do, but I can also see ECNL having a strong incentive to do so since they're very much a pipeline to colleges and it would simplify the recruiting process.
Good post. I am very interested in this possibility. Some moms were talking about it at the Monday training, and then by Tuesday/Wednesday morning US Soccer had sent out that survey.
Beat a Cincinnati team 2-0 after losing 2-4 to same team Saturday in group stage. Columbus girls were much smaller but we stayed in front and dominated for the Championship. What a accomplishment for these girls !

Great listen. Thanks again for the recommendation. Also, I listened to an older episode of Scuffed. The episode contained a long interview with a guy who creates coaching curriculum. Interesting stuff. I took a lot away from that one. Last week, I bought goalie gloves for my daughter, as well. What are our girls thinking? I went back to this thread for ideas. Timo is coaching both of our boys this fall, and he has one conflict this fall season - on Saturday due to one of Markus' tournament games.... so I need to put on my coaching t-shirt and coach our Jules for one practice/game. Some great info in here - I think I will go for treasure hunt and monsters. Those of you who are friends with me on a different social media... go check out the videos of Jules' goals from his first ever soccer game. What a joy. Such happiness and love.
Dude. It is so wonderful. His first ever goal was with his left foot. And he is wearing a Crew hat for like the first three-four goals? Also, he does his goal celebration after every goal. Jules is four.
I wonder if gymnastics would help. Learning how to "fall" (i.e. dive) without getting hurt would be helpful. And I think like all other aspects of soccer, touches help. So someone kicking a lot of balls at the player--first gently and then with more force--will give them touches and one would hope some confidence.
A drill my son's coach used when he was a youth soccer goalie: The team had two goalies. Both stand in the area defending half the goal. Get all the soccer balls you have and have the other team members taking shots as often and quickly as possible. Station parents around to retrieve balls and toss them back into the area for the shooters. This was a fun drill.
