Could following the action with the Live Scoreboard be anymore exciting?! Nearly like being there in person.
Duke 3-UVa 0. Final. Link. Livestats is still stuck at 74:44, but the Virginia site has posted the result. Notre Dame went on to beat Wisconsin, 1-0, in regulation. Other scores are being reported on the NCAA scoreboard.
Nebraska 2 Kansas 1 The Kansas website has the following reort: http://kuathletics.collegesports.com/sports/w-soccer/stats/2004-2005/ncaa03.html They must be psychic in Kansas because Deadstats says the game hasn't started yet.
Illinois 2, Texas A&M 1 Santa Clara 1, Stanford 0 OT UConn 4, Colgate 0 Princeton 1, Villanova 0 Tennessee 1, UAB 0 Boston College 2, UCF 1 Washington 1, Auburn 0 Portland up 2-0 on Colorado in the 2nd half Texas 2, WVU 1 UCLA up 2-0 on San Diego in the 2nd Ohio State 3, Detroit 0 I think that's every score, not sure if those other 2 are finals yet or not.
Out of curiousity, how will the NCAA decide whether Nebraska or Illinois gets home field, since they are both unseeded?
Portland was up 3-0, with the "Live"Stats saying in the 89th minute...that's been on for about an hour or so now.

More Jones rating comparisons The results of 16 second round games are shown below along with Jones ratings. The rating difference is calculated, including a home field advantage of 60 rating points where it applies. (based on the November 9 Albyn Jones ratings) The higher rated team is listed first and the winning team is shown in bold. The lower rated team won 4 of the 16 games but in only one of these games was the ratings difference more than 250 points. Once again, in no game where the lower-rated team won was the rating difference more than 350 points. The upset was Maryland 1-0 over Penn State (difference= 266 +hfa= 326) The other games in which the lower rated team won were: Illinois 2-1 over Texas A and M (rating difference= 110 +hfa = 170) Nebraska 2-1 over Kansas (difference= 184 +hfa= 244) Duke 3-0 over Virginia. (difference= 188 +hfa= 248) The way I define an upset using the Jones rating is that the rating difference must be at least 250 ratings points. Nebraska over Kansas and Duke over Virginia could be defined as minor upsets but I'd be more inclined to call them good wins. Illinois over TAMU is not an upset; it's a good win, at least the way I look at the Jones ratings. Lets put Albyn Jones ratings/math aside for the moment and look at Nebraska's win over Kansas from a layman's point of view. The #8 seed lost to an unseeded team that wasn't even a top 25 in anyone's ranking system. That's an upset in my books.
I don't understand how they can make UW with it's high home game crowds and high ranking play 3 games in a row away. It's a JOKE JOKE JOKE This 3rd round should be HOME..get a clue NCAA
Someone else please check out the pdf. at ncaasports.com. I see an asterisk by Washington for this weekend, meaning they are hosting. I hope this is true as they deserve it. If so, this would just be Caligirl jumping to conclusions and ranting as usual. Caligirl, you say some very educated things, but your continual anger and pessimism is really a downer. Sorry your life is so tough and I hope things get better for you. If you want to rant just stick to the Santa Clara issue. Now there's a good one.
Well then wish my life well too, and in fact, go on over to the "reactions" thread and wish all of those posters who complained and complained about the NCAA bracket a good life too...because we all must be angry and pessimistic. There is no doubt that there is an East Coast bias, so why does Caligirl saying that mean she is angry and pessimistic? Let's try angry and honest. I am angry too, that the NCAA can be this far off on their assesment of women's soccer. Let's not just stick to Santa Clara. Let's bring up Arizona. Let's say that UNC won the ACC...oh that's right, they did. So for their first adn second round games, they have to fly to San Diego to play. Then, after adding in jet lag, and not playing at home, let's factor in an extreme weather change. hey, have fun! Let's also look at oh...that the IVY league has not won a game against a big west conference school in 4 years, yet the ivy league gets 3 teams in and the big west gets one team in. Let's look at all the scores from the east...6-0, 8-0, 4-0, blowouts in early round games, and out west, its 2-0, 1-0 or 2-1. Hmm, what does this suggest? There is no question is is all about the east. I am a happy and well-adjusted person who can observe this, state it and be upset by it, yet move on. Why don't we stick to the facts at hand and avoid personal comments.
I have to agree with upperv. So we know some facts too about Washington and soccer in the area. It is the 6th largest provider of youth soccer in the country as far as kids playing the game. Not that it really matters in the scheme of the NCAA, but the fact is this area is dieing for any kind of higher level soccer. i also agree if NC was on the road, you'd have people going crazy about how unfair it is. Yet time and time again, westcoast teams have to travel, no matter what the rankings say. This isn't a tournament based on the east coast and the NCAA needs to realize it. Oh and Bob, I was ranting to be honest. I think the way they choose sites is totally unfair. I'd like to know how many times NC has played on the road in the NCAA tournament vs Home?
and I have totally agreed before that it is unfair and still do. Check past posts. I think much of what has gone on is absurd. Don't even get me started on the how many east coast teams got in by a mystery. Caligirl knows what I was talking about. I love all the discourse here, positive and negative. My problem is when people consistently exagerate and jump to conclusions. Heck, we don't need to do anything but state the facts to show the problems! As for UNC not having to travel, I have to disagree with this one. It is absurd that Santa Clara is playing at UNC this weekend, but I believe that the higher seed should get to host. Hence, UNC for years (this one and many in the past) should not be traveling as they have earned the home field. Someone should be going to UNC this weekend, but it should not be Santa Clara.
I am just siding with Squash and posting my thoughts on his comment. Sorry but my life is not tough and things could not be better! Just feel sorry for the West Coast schools and their soccer programs for not being treated fairly. Anything wrong with that???? I am optimistic that when the final four comes back across the Mississippi, things will be just fine! P.S. I have a life outside of soccer and don't have the time to look on every site to verify if what people state is correct. My apologies!
If Notre Dame beats Connecticut and Texas beats Portland, Chris Petrucelli goes back to face his old school where he won a National title in 1995. That should be interesting.
With the conclusion of the second round, it is clear that the NCAA has a strong anti east-coast bias. They have blatantly rigged the brackets so that there would be an all west-coast final four. Portland vs SCU in one game and UCLA vs Washington in the other. Culminating in a WCC vs PAC-10 final. Fans in the east and midwest should be outraged. Sophister
Just FYI, the Nebraska-Illinois game will be in Champaign, IL, according to huskers.com and the ncaasports.com bracket.
