Akron did rout the Billikens, 3-0, in a late September tilt this season. I would love to see it again.
I'm just hoping that Maryland is at full strength for this one. Leon Koehl missed the game agianst UConn due to something, and Joseph Umberto Picotto and Kenny Quist-Therson both went out with injuries during the game. A little surprised to see that Emil Nymann Anderson got his first minutes as a freshman in the closing stages of that one, too.
Just a reminder, when MD beat Wash earlier this year, Wash #9 Kosakov was suspended. I believe Wash is at full strength. As you pointed out, MD may be missing Koehl (why was he missing?), Picotto and Kenny. Also, Jace Clark was missing and didn't Cisse at RB are dinged. MD is very deep, but Wash seems healthy. It should be a good match.
Not sure on Koehl. If the broadcast said it, I didn't catch it, and the Diamondback/Testudo Times student writers didn't have any info. Seems that Picotto was in a boot with crutches postgame, though, so that's less that ideal. No info on KQT, either.
Any chance the GU v NC State match might be rescheduled? The players will be fine, of course - they get to run around - but the fans? High temps in DC (and College Park): 34 tomorrow, below freezing at game time, precipitation possible (not sure what time). 44 Saturday, partly cloudy 44 Sunday I have UMD v Washington on Saturday afternoon in my sights - cold but not unbearable.
Gonna hazard a guess of no on this one. Vermont-Hofstra was played in snowy conditions, Furman-Hofstra was played in cold rain. This is why the full academic calendar season should become a thing! Especially with MLS due to change their season schedule, it'd be the perfect time to re-align the schedule so the SuperDraft would happen right after the College Cup ahead of MLS preseason, and the players would be better rested overall.
You guys are reminding me of 2017 in Philadelphia (actually Chester), Stanford 1-0 Indiana, temp 37 degrees; and 2013 in Philadelphia (again Chester), Notre Dame 2-1 Maryland, even colder (finished in the 20's). Felt colder than that, playable on the field, but not great for fans. Those finals were immovable, set in stone, but I assume the GU v NC State QF could have been played Saturday or even Sunday. That's all.
The Winter Weather Advisory expires at 4 pm, the precipitation should be done well before kickoff. Not ideal, but given DC traffic generally, if you were planning to attend this one, you already made plans with a buffer (I'm taking the afternoon off of work to make sure I get my usual back row spot). The mention of Chester reminds me of my own personal nightmare: the Nov 15, 2013 Big East Tournament seminal in which the Hoyas lost to Providence on PKs after a scoreless regulation and OT. It was so cold everyone was cuddling in the bathrooms for warmth at halftime. The box score says mid-40s, but that is a lie.
Kick Off in Akron on Saturday will peak @ 33*, cloudy, with wind gusts. I shall look to Saint Remy Martin for guidance (VSOP). Here we go Zippers, here we go!!!
Do you think all the Big East teams get money based on units earned by conference schools for advancing in the Big Dance, they way they do for basketball? lol I'll be rooting for Akron anyway - really hope to be seeing y'all in Cary.
Get those big ESPN+ bucks! Now I'm getting this mental picture of the VMI coach opening up an envelope and inside is a check with their share of the SoCon units for Furman's run. I wonder if it's more or less than my book 'royalties' (averages right around $3 every couple of months).
go ahead and rub it in on us serfs while you roll in the author royalities.... Enjoy living high on the hog.
Wrote - yes. Sold - not in the traditional sense of selling it to a publisher. There's a business school prof at Georgetown who created a hybrid press/author community thing to go along with a class he teaches where students put together a rough draft manuscript over the course of a single semester. It was on my bucket list and COVID had just hit, so I was on my couch a lot with nothing to do - seemed like the stars had aligned. The goal was more to use it as a vehicle for landing a job more in line with what I was interested in. But since the authors get to keep the IP, every couple of months I get a couple of cents/bucks from Amazon, Ingram, or Kobo because someone bought a copy. https://www.creator.institute/

I didn't mention it last weekend but Bryant seemed terribly unlucky to go through the entire day and evening in a cool steady rain, as a host to advance round. Then have weather stop, as soon as they lose the shootout to SLU. They will give UVm everything they can handle in AmEast. Most NE U's will be likely looking to get a match in their NC sched. because Bryant isn't going away. Unless, someone does what NC St. (at UNH) did 2y ago and come looking for their coach.
