dsocc- how come the ucf men's program that you were yappin about having so a poor apr in not listed? I know it is amazing what some of these schools can do to the numbers....
San Jose State's APR was 839. UCF's was 903. A 3-year APR of below 900 automatically kicks in the penalties. UCF's APR of 903 means they are on the bubble, and that only about 45% of their players graduate. So, in terms you can understand, the NCAA believes their academic performance sucks.
Actually the APR is much more complicated than you make it sound. I don't know where you got the 45% number but the APR takes into account a 3 year rolling average of a combination of statistics. The report does show that they are in the very bottom percentile which obviously reinforces your ever so eloquent statement that their academic performance sucks. You obviously have very strong emotional ties to UCF for whatever reason as shown by your angry posts, but I just wanted to clear up a false statement concerning the 45%. Enjoy your rantings. . .
1) It's not that complicated. 2) If you'd have bothered to have read the release, it was the NCAA itself (last sentence) that equated an APR of 900 with an approximate 45% graduation rate. So, the 900 is a 3-year rolling average index of the graduation rate, where 1000 equates to 100%, and 925 equates to approximately 50%. Enjoy your trolling...
Damn. SJSU got slammed! Not just in men's soccer... they also lose scholarships in baseball, football, and women's basketball. They're the only school to be penalized in four separate sports.
Shame about San Jose State. Their coach, Gary St. Clair, has consistently recruited Hispanic kids from backgrounds that few in D-I college soccer target. He's filled a void and had some decent teams and sent a few players to MLS, including a couple of all-stars. But, that was before this new system. If he's gonna continue to get penalized for recruiting the same kind of player, he's likely gonna have to alter his recruiting a little. Hopefully, he will be able to still target the same market, but just be a little more judicious in the academic backgrounds and abilities of the players he brings in.
