I would like to see Butler win, because I felt bad for them last year because I know they were going to and had to lose and because I feel like it took a lot for them to be back in the big dance. Plus I'm dislike the Huskies, I'm still bitter about the past. I enjoyed this year's tourney! Definately the year of the upsets/underdogs.
Yay. UConn beats Butler in a boring game. That was sad to watch. I am switching to Real Housewived of Orange County.
Now I'm happy I chose to do accounting homework instead. Ewwwwww. I thought maybe both defenses were on fire, but it appears that was far from the case.
That was painful. I so much wanted the Bulldogs and they just couldn't get anything to go down. Nice title run by UConn. I picked them to win the whole tourney in my office pool which sadly wasn't for money since it is based in Provo Utah where most of my co-workers are Mormons who claim they don't gamble (but they sure love going to Vegas when BYU plays there.)
I saw it noted on twitter that the AD of a football coach that will be suspended at the start of next season was handing the trophy to a basketball coach who will be suspended at the start of next season... It's amazing that UConn was allowed to play that game. It's even more amazing that Patrick Sellers was on court celebrating after the game. Watching that game made my head hurt. I can't remember what else I was going to type.
I remember 25 years ago the Sixers' beat writer talking about how after covering pro basketball regularly, it was very hard to watch college hoops. He had a point.
It's hard to believe that we saw the best two college basketball teams playing. Butler, a team that lost to Youngstown State and UCon, a team that finished 9-9 in conference play and finished 9th in their conference. Sad.
That's because they aren't the 2 best teams. Just teams that hit some good form at the right time. But form isn't permanent and therefore good form must always come to a screeching halt at some point.
There are times when I regret the development of the 3-point shot, and this tournament was one of those times. In the old days, firing all game from 25 feet because you're not good enough to get a better shot meant a certain loss. Now, if your guys get hot and you play good defense, you might win. But your team still sucks, offensively. And it's boring to watch.
Overall, I am happy with the rule. I found Butler living or dying on Mack dribbling around in circles and then chucking long balls after a while to be dull basketball. But it was an exciting story.
The offensive display last night was the exception, not the norm. Hence the lowest scoring title game and FGP in about 70 years.
Games can be high-scoring and bad, too. Changing subject ... what do people think about having NBA guys do the halftime shows at the college game? Did that work out?
