In the San Francisco Bay Area we have a team called the St. Mary's Gaels who are famous for their Australian connection. I'm sure you have heard of them, because they show their games in Australia and have created a following over there.
hmmm... but wouldn't the fact that Australia is a big isolated island imply that fewer people would have a passport? Its a bigger effort (and cost) to leave your country, whereas many people in the U.S. like myself can just drive to Canada or Mexico, or take a short, cheap flight to the Caribbean. So I think its a mental thing, not a geographical one. But yeah, I also cannot fathom how someone can have no interest exploring the world. Its the only world we have and you only live once. Makes no sense. Anyway, off-topic.
Selection Sunday was yesterday, here are the brackets: http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/ncaa-tournament/brackets/viewable_men
mods let me know if this is allowed or not. The company i work for are running a free March Madness bracket. $100,000 for a perfect bracket, iPads, iPods and $10k up for grabs... www.mrsportsbookbracket.com If not then please remove!
Goethe is pronounced like the person it is named after (Johann Wolfgang con Goethe), at least according to the voice they have annoucing the stop on the 22/36 bus!
I've heard it both ways also, and was kinda surprised to hear the CTA pronouce it correctly. I had a friend that lived on Goethe and she/her neighbors would say it correctly.
Come on gentlemen, I am not a mod, but the tourny is about to start and the brackets info was released. Let us now focus on NCAA basketball. I have Ohio State winning the whole thing.
Going out on a limb, eh? I'm actually going to first and second round games this weekend in Chicago. Very excited to see Notre Dame and Georgetown, as my buddies I'll be with are alums of each. Not really going to make a prediction. Each year I watch a ton of college basketball, try to know a fair bit about the mid-major teams, and yet always get beaten in my ncaa pools by folks that haven't watched a single game and fill out their brackets based on which team's mascots would win in a hypothetical fight to the death.
lol yep going out on a limb. Dude have fun at the games. It lools like a really fun atmosphere because each game counts.
Oh trust me I hate Buckeyes. In football, I always root Wolverines. But, after catching mostly PAC 10 and ACC (my two fav conferences) and only catching OSU admitedly in the Big Ten, OSU is class and could beat imo Duke or NC. Sullinger is awesome and I got my eye on that talent.
Lol I take it that none of you guys watch NIT. I am currently watching Dayton vs College of Charleston. I am bored and I am happy Machester United advanced in CL. So I might as well watch this.
OK. So I checked out a bit of the action on truTV, just to see how they're doing it before switching to ESPN at 9:30 for you-know-what. truTV is in SD where I live. So far, the picture from Turner Sports looks decent. I can't compare much because I only saw one game. It would be interesting to see how last nights games would do, ratings-wise. Since this is the first I remember truTV having any sports programming on, one can expect ratings to reflect this, especially with non-marquee teams playing.
I also thought the broadcast on truTV was good. Score board was there, and the broadcast was clean (online).
http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/20...ivision-i-men’s-basketball-championship/86041 Two games with a couple of teams no one has heard of, on a channel virtually nobody has heard of may well have gotten better ratings than last night's First Kick. I guess it must be those office workers who had filled in their brackets early. Edit: Oh, by the way, the TWC in my city has added truTV in HD as I was typing this message. I have no idea if that's permanent or not.
And most people will start watching Thursday when the 1st round starts (technically 2nd round this year). Potential upset teams anyone?
I didn't realize I had truTV as a HD channel until yesterday so congratulations Times Warner. I started off watching online. Every year MMOD gets better. I haven't been disappointed yet. The quality online is probably slightly better than SD and isn't far from being comprobable to HD. The quality may have been slightly better when the Silverlight option existed in the past, but it is definitely the best Flash version they have used.
My three upset teams to watch out for are Richmond, Utah St., and Gonzaga. I would have liked to gone bold and pick a relatively low-ranked team (#4 or lower) to reach the Final Four from the Southeast region. Yet despite the fact that Pittsburgh looks to be the weakest #1 seed, it appears to have the easiest road to Houston.
