Why do the Wolfpack suck great big donkey balls year after year? I guess it's hard for Tarantini to recruit anybody to that piece of sh_t Method Road field, eh?

I hear that they are moving out of Method Road and major renovations are being done over at Derr Track.

I don't know what's happened with George T. He has had great players and great teams in the past, but hasn't had either in recent years.

    The skinny on State!

The sad truth about North Carolina State soccer is that their administration doesn't care enough about it's program. With football and basketball both doing well at this large state university, there is just not enough emphasis (or interest) in this once prosperous program.

If there was, how could you explain the fact that George Tarantini has been able to keep his job for as long as he has? His reputation is awful in the local, regional and national soccer community among youth players and coaches, which tells why the talent pool of players has diminished greatly over the last 10-15 years. The only successful players he has been able to recruit have been either players from outside of the area (who didn't know about his reputation until after arriving in Raleigh) or with students who didn't have the academic profile to be able to attend either Duke or UNC.

Method Road is the worst facility in the conference, and even Athletics Director Lee Fowler was quoted as saying that 'recruiting against other schools in the ACC with the facilities we have is like bringing a knife to a gunfight'. With the new facilities that both football and basketball have been able to move into, it only lends itself to the theory that the powers that be at NC State just don't care enough about it's program.

It's really quite a shame because there could be so much potential in this once great program to thrive.

    enough

We've kicked this around for a few years now and George isn't going any where unless he develops some physical problem that prevents him from coaching. NC St will not remove him, he won't quit and good players will never come in enough numbers to win so Wolfpack soccer will suck for the foreseeable future. Let's move on, at least UVA and UNC won't finish last next season as they go through rebuilding.
I took a look a couple of years ago at some ranking service which places all 200 or so D-1 teams and the top six teams in the ACC were like 1-20 and NC St stood at like 150. I'd say they are a little out of touch with the rest of the league and an embarrassment to their school and our conference.

PS, I do appreciate NC St keeping UMD out of last place in 2000 & 2001.

Part of it might have to do with academic reputation. With the exception of maybe Clemson, NCSU would be the worst place to attend academically for soccer in the ACC.
