There are 4 games on linear TV - aside from NBC there's Forest-Chelsea (USA), Man Utd-Villa (CNBC) and Southampton-Arsenal (SYFY). All of these have CL implications (except the latter if Arsenal wins or draws the game going on right now). Just don't understand the choice of Liverpool for the mothership since it's an utterly meaningless matchup.
NBC and Peacock. Cable and live streaming subscriptions are cratering again. NBC Universal has so little faith in their cable channels that they're spinning them off as something called Versant to get them off their books. OTA and streaming will be all that's left in a few years.
It is not every day Liverpool fans get to see their team get the Premier League trophy at home on National Television so I am not too shocked by that decision.
They can always cut in and show that, making a national audience watch 90 minutes of a dead rubber isn't necessary.
I knew "shill" would be the core of this tools response lol. They don't teach many words in middle school these days I guess.
I think this talk about NBC's lineup for the final Sunday is a little silly, especially in 2025. For the EPL they have basically 2 flagship channels: NBC & USA. They've chosen NBC for the title winning party at Anfield (LIV-CP), and USA for the match with arguably the biggest jeopardy (NF-CHE). While 2 other matches are on CNBC & SYFY*. I'd guess this is not too atypical for NBC, though I have no easy way to check prior seasons TV schedules. Plus the fact that they're airing 60% of the matches on Peacock is probably consistent with the last year or two. And as you may have noticed, I'm a person who still laments many of the backward steps that streaming has brought us. But it's clear we aren't going back to the old cable+dvr delivery mode, so my focus/complaint has generally been about how they could improve the streaming experience. *If SOU-ARS on SYFY isn't also available to stream on NBC Sports or Peacock apps, then I may then complain loudly about that lineup decision.
I wouldn't see why it wouldn't be on one of those apps and why the hell the NBC Sports app still exists is anyone's guess. I would have been tempted to roll it all into Peacock. Peacock with authenticated access gets you the NBC Sports stuff, plus 24/7 streams of all your authenticated channels. No authentication? Everything stays as-is. Someone like me who pays for Peacock AND could authenticate would get everything I currently get plus live streams of all my NBC channels...until that stuff gets spun off, then it's TBD.
Yes the fact that we have to use 2 different NBC apps is dumb. Obviously Peacock carries everything that is streaming only or on flagship NBC channel, and NBC Sports app carries everything else, i.e. USA Network. AND the fact that Goal Zone & PL Live episodes aren't streamable as discreet shows, and generally have to be viewed on the front or back end of a given match is also dumb IMHO. IOW it goes without saying that there's still a lot of improvement potential for sports streaming, even from the companies that do a pretty decent job of it.
I know there are ways to get Peacock for less with some patience, but since my annual membership was coming up for renewal and the season is ending, I just hit "cancel membership" and they immediately offered me $39.99 for 12 months. So, got Peacock for another year at just over $3/month. Nice of Peacock to alert me that my renewal was coming up. Many companies would have stayed silent and hope customers aren't keeping track, then auto renew them at the full price.
I waited to do mine today, last day to do it was tomorrow, and when I clicked cancel they offered me another year at $19.99.
Interesting. Even better! That's the rate I got last November for Black Friday. You did well it seems. Or they are desperate!
I need to remember to cancel so I can renew (or start a new account) for free as a Spectrum customer.
You can cancel now and it'll ride out the subscription. At that point, you should be able to connect your Peacock account to your Spectrum account...assuming they don't make you use your Spectrum email.
