luckily since the NBA is on ESPN now, the NHL is hardly ever on TV. thank god.

    the NHL...

i dont think reasons are needed.

the nba is absolutly AWFUL. hockey is a much more phsyically challenging sport, anyways. and its not dominated by thugs, freaks of nature, and hardened criminals, aside from theroen fleury and the new jersey devils. no coaches getting choked. no "kiill whitey" rap songs. its more international as well. more fun at the olympics, too.

NHL. I like NBA as well, but hockey is better than basketball.

    I like both.

NHL - Detroit Red Wings (BEST OF THE WEST!)

NBA - Detroit Pistons (BEAST OF THE EAST!)

It does get a little confusing, though, when I go overseas and people ask me if Detroit is in the east or west of the United States. :)

I used to be a Knicks fan but I refuse to watch them until GM Scott Layden gets fired. Plus all the talent is out West so the East is kinda boring.

Sure, my Rangers piss me off as well but I find hockey more exciting anyways, so I will go with the NHL.

I thought Detroit was a suburb of Windsor, Ontario. :p

I used to like the NBA but there are very few teams that actually play basketball nowadays. Most other teams play variations of 2 vs 2 with 6 on the side.

NHL - I try to get into it but until the playoff rolls around, it doesn't hold my interest.

So I guess it's a tie for me.

I am a casual fan of both. When the playoffs roll around then my interest peaks for a bit. I do like seeing how Yao Ming is tearing it up though.

I am trying to get into minor league hockey by following the local team here...Idaho Steelheads. That in turn has me trying to watch any NHL game that pops up on the boob tube.

Hey now, you leave Doyle alone. His bag is the greatest league in the world. That's right. I'm talking about the Canadian Football League. Longer. Wider. Faster.

Anyway, I'll go with the NHL. I love the Celtics, but I agree with the reasons posted by Own. Plus, it's really hard to support a league that allows the Lakers to win its title, not once, but three times.

NBA. It's been boring for me because the Knicks aren't playing well, but I still prefer the NBA over the NHL. In the NBA there's always action, while in the NHL it just isn't as much in my opinion.

Anyways, GO NY GO NY GO!

I like both although I do find myself watching NBA more. I guess it's because I usually flip back and forth between the two. NBA can be watched for 3 minutes and be good, but hockey like soccer, has to be watched for a long time to get into the game. NBA has more scoring, but less movement nowadays, and hockey has less scoring, but constant action and movement. Hockey sucks on tv, though so can we really compare? It's a tie IMO, I like both.

NHL no question, but I still prefer the college game when it comes to hockey. I used to follow the NHL religiously when I was little by watching the North Stars and Hockey Night in Canada, but then once the North Stars were stolen away from us I kinda lost interest in the NHL. I've started to get into again now since we got the Wild, but the league just isn't the same.

The NBA is, and will always be, garbage.

btw, those who cant follow the puck on tv must be pretty thick. i mean, its no that hard... and thats one of the complaints about hockey i hear more often... slackers.

It's not too hard to follow the puck. What happened to that effect where there would be a glow following the puck?

FOX Trax. That was when FOX had the NHL, and only for select regular season games, the playoffs, and the Stanley Cup. Think of it this way; the camera guy (usually) knows where the puck is, so by default you do too. The NBA needs two things: to de-emphasize defense and call travelling. The first is at a coaching level, I'm getting sick of seeing 85-80 games. This isn't college. And call travelling. I believe if we refocus on SHOOTING the ball instead of dunking it, laying it up, and fading away, we'll see more scoring.

basketball rules over hockey. Hockey shoudn't even be the 4th big sport in the US by all accounts it should be soccer. Too bad US soccer never got its act together they could have passed hockey in the 60's,70s.

I'm not as much of a lunatic about the NHL as I once was (probably due to having MLS and other things like FSW to take up my sports viewing time), so I don't really get going until the playoffs. That said, I'll still watch a hockey game gladly, and you couldn't get me to watch the NBA with an electric cattle prod. It is truly that damned bad.

Hopefully it stays in the Can of Bad fing Ideas forever.

That being said, I'll watching NBA a couple times a year, but it's NHL for me. Still a lot more going on than in today's NBA.

I get more entertainment value by driving for a couple of hours to some small town and watching a couple of rivals go at it in high school basketball. $5 tickets tops, and concession prices are at worst a third of what the Sonics charge. And the game is more like real basketball.

    NHL over NBA.

i am still trying to figure out how the NHL is more "international" than the NBA. that was a joke right?

It might be "real" basketball but it's hardly quality basketball. I've seen my fill of 5 foot 6 white guys who can hardly dribble much less shoot. There are very, very few small town teams across this country that can play the game. We all have visions of "Hoosiers" but in reality it's closer to the Bad News Bears. It's not as bad as watching high school football, but that ain't saying much.
