I don't know. Floyd got a raw deal when he went to Chicago. He walked into a horrible situation. Players dissatisfied with Krause and ownership, and owndership that was sick of paying for the players and a coach they didn't even like. Floyd took over for Phil Jackson, MJ sliced his finger lighting a cigar and retired, and Scottie got his new deal and bolted to Houston. And of course, Rodman disappeared only to resurface in LA for the Lakers for a few weeks.

So in reality, I really can't say I know how good a coach Tim Floyd is. He might actually be decent if given a level playing field. But then again 49 wins is horrible no matter how you cut the pie. And the fact that at the time he went into the Bulls - nobody wanted to play for them. Free agents, other good players - nobody wanted to play for Chicago because of Managements' bad reputation and playing in the house "Jordan Built".

    Tim Floyd

Floyd did an awesome job at ISU. With a family that really didn't want to come to Iowa. I wish him luck in New Orleans, and think he'll find a lot more luck there than in Chicago.

George Shinn and his sidekick aren't exactly known for making decisions that aren't stupid. I wish Floyd well, but if I were him, I would rent, not buy.

As most people know the Spurs have the cap-room and are looking to sign Kidd, O'Neal or Kandi this summer.

Elton Brand is also a restricted free agent. Meaning teams can offer him money and then the Clippers can either match it or let him go.

Here's a complete list of free agents: http://www.nbawire.com/nba-free-agents.html

    Some notable FAs (*restricted)
PG: Jason Kidd, Gary Payton, Gilbert Arenas, Kenny Anderson, Antonio Daniels
SG: Reggie Miller, Richard Hamilton*, Corey Maggete*, Jason Terry*
    SF: Lamar Odom* Scottie Pippen
PF: Karl Malone, Jermaine O'Neal, Elton Brand*, PJ Brown, Juwan Howard
C: Brad Miller, Michael Olowokwandi, Alonzo Mourning

This is probably the richest free agent crop in a while.
Denver, San Antonio and possibly Utah and Detroit will be big spenders.

Denver's reportedly after Arenas, who would give them a good, young core of Arenas (PG), Carmelo (SF) and Nene Hilario (C/PF). I assume they will try to re-sign Howard, and pick up another free agent at SG.

San Antonio needs to replace David Robinson, but can choose from O'Neal, 'Kandi and B. Miller. I think a big man is a bigger priority than getting Kidd, the way Parker is playing right now.

Utah will replace John Stockton and (probably) Karl Malone. Andre Miller, who played four years at U of U may be the logical choice at PG.

Detroit doesn't really have a glaring need, but they could use another scorer. I wouldn't be surprised if they replace Hamilton, Williamson and/or Robinson via trade or free agency.

Lakers will definitely go after a power forward, possibly PJ Brown or Karl Malone.

I agree the Spurs should go big. I would love if they got O'Neal. If they get 'Kandi or Miller they will still have money to spend on another player while if they get O'Neal he's their player for the summer. And I think after the playoffs and finals the Spurs may not be as interested in Kidd.

Lakers won't have much money to spend at all, but I've heard they're interested in Brown, Malone or Pippen. Then again reports from Portland are that Pippen wants to stay there.

SIDE NOTE: I don't think it's the Offseason until the playoffs are over.

The Lakers are gone and Bulls are loooong gone. By the way, who's left? ;)

Hamilton is going nowhere; he's the Pistons' only scorer.

Cliff Robinson, Jon Barry, and probably Michael Curry are history. No specific names have been thrown around, except for one optimist who suggested a package deal to Minnesota of the #2 pick and several players for Kevin Garnett, which isn't going to happen.

I was wondering about Michael Curry - with Prince as a likely started next year, wouldn't it make sense to have a defensive specialist and good locker room influence like Curry coming off the bench rather than Williamson?

    - I've read some message board talk about Minnestoa trading a combination of Szerbiak, Smith and Brandon for Rasheed Wallace. It sort of makes sense because Portland is trying to cut payroll and Wallace is a headcase, Brandon's salary would open up cap space, while adding another all star makes it easier to sign KG next summer.

BTW, this is from May, but David Aldridge's plan for fixing the Lakers this summer: http://espn.go.com/nba/columns/aldridge_david/1555715.html

What pick would they get in next year's draft?

So, how did the expansion draft work again? And will teams be making deals to dump salary, i.e.
team X leaves player Y unprotected in exchange for the Bobcats taking player Y and his inflated salary?

And Detriot will be taking Darko Milicic second- Carmelo Anthony canceled his Detriot workout.

Yes, basically. Charlotte assumes the contract of each play it picks.

Expansion draft rules explained here: http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/sports/columnists/rick_bonnell/5297490.htm

    - Each team protects 8 players from the expansion draft
    - Charlotte will get 14 picks.
    - No team can lose more than one player, so Charlotte will pick 14 players from 14 teams.
    - If Charlotte picks a restricted free agent, that player immediately becomes an unrestricted free agent.

As for the amateur draft, Toronto and Vancouver picked 6th and 7th in 1995, Vancouver winning the coin flip to pick 6th. And for 1996-98, neither team could have the #1 pick.

I would have figured that they got the #1 pick (and Omeka Okafer with it) but according to skip thats not true. No idea where they would go

If that were the case it seems the player could then chose not to sign with Charlotte. I wonder if that could/would happen.

Bobcats is such a lame name, they should have gone with "Flight." :(
