Jones will sign an MLS contract after this and play well into his 40s after milking this club.

******** Phil Jones. While I don’t blame him for milking the ridiculous contract we gave him that he didn’t earn, ******** him for refusing to leave.

To be honest I don't blame Phil Jones. MUFC are the mugs who gave him that last contract as he had a few decent games early in Ole's tenure. They thought, give him a new contract and then flip him but predictably he kept getting injured. He probably knows his career is over so why would he even try for a new club? Just keep taking the good money until time runs out.

Homie clocked life. He's making silly money for doing nothing. Love that for him.

Before I used to have empathy for him. Now I do not. He could have did his coaching licenses and coached the U23's as he is recovering.

Maybe he doesn't want to coach.

It blows my mind that he and Maguire are about the same age. Just under a year apart.

I'm hearing rumours that it's down to the lady what happens next. Is this it or could she drop charges?

He’s done here. Club are just waiting to see if they can cut him for free or if they have to pay for it.

True. Such a waste of incredible talent. Our front line would be lethal with him at 9. So sad. Shame for the girl and hope she gets the necessary therapy and learns some skills so she is not in this position again.

If found guilty will get a light sentence as a first time offender and footballer, I would hope. Then have to sign in China or Saudi Arabia.

We keep saying he is done here yet there has been no action from club side pointing to the fact. Are they waiting for a court verdict? Come to think of it even mendy is still on city payroll, right?

Usually action under employment contract is placed on hold pending criminal process.

So the player will be in books until conviction or contract end whichever comes first?

Yeah most likely. If they cancelled his contract now, and he’s found not guilty, they would have to pay the rest of his owed wages and could even face wrongful termination suit (although not sure if that’s a thing with sports contracts).

But if he’s found guilty, they can likely cancel with no fee and probably even recoup the wages they’ve had to pay him during the past year.
