Yes will crush teams in qualifying but that's about it. We aren't who we think we are and i don't see us beating a top8 team anytime soon, not with our style of player or squad selections. I can see why Veiga played. I thought he looked really good with Dias for a first game, he’s quick, solid and tall. Wonder why Joao Neves and Vitinha didn’t play
Ruben Neves—I'm usually quick to criticize him, but he played fantastic. He played simple, decisive football. I like finally seeing another fast, tricky winger playing on the right. It's about time. Bernardo belongs in the center of the field. Again, it was a decent game against the opposition we were supposed to beat convincingly.
The issue i have with this game is we basically played a 442 with bruno and ronaldo as striker. If he intends on using this against better teams we will get cooked similarly to how united gets cooked on a weekly basis. Poland just lacked the pace and quality to capitalize on us being a man down in midfield. Another issue is that most of our chances came due to Leao just beasting it, and thats not really a sustainable method of chance creation. He also often tires early into the second half because of this, and the level of our play dropped dramatically when he went off. I still think we would struggle to score against any half decent team, even Slovenia. I really dont understand why we give a player like bruno such freedom on the pitch as if he is prime messi. Especially when he is such a limited player (ie cannot dribble, loses the ball alot...). I personally think we would be better off putting another man in midfield (nunes, joao neves, vitinha etc) rather than him playing this pseudo striker role. Yes I get your frustration … it is a bs tournament but we need our better players to get used to playing with each other/mesh . Btw, I do have to say the Felix has done nothing to earn a start . He is off .
