Remember that in Europe, they put the day before the month ... DD/MM.

    :D

Will see you in RSA, Duke!

Soooooo.... does anyone actually know when the new kits are out? It sounds like the blue aways are going to be debuted at the Netherlands game... will they be available for sale then? What about pre-order?
And what about the white home kits? Sometime in May? And the third red kit?

    Anyone?

You would think they would have already released them. I don't understand what the hold up is.

I know it is too late now, but why can't they get it through their skulls that our home jersey should be this color combination with modern fabrics and style.

Our away jersey needs to be this color scheme with adjustments made to the design (i.e. no collar).
[IMG]That is it. Nothing more needs to be discussed.

Re: Anyone know when the USMNT 2009/2010 Kits will be availiable?

It would be good to start a tradition with our shirts, a la Italy or Brazil. We should at least settle on a color scheme (none of this charcoal nonsense of our current away shirt). But I think it should be something more modern... the 1950 shirt was one from a completely different era in terms of the US footballing continuity. Our true modern tradition dates back to 1988, and the qualifying cycle that led up to the 1990 World Cup.

But maybe I'm just biased, because I don't like the sash.

I think it would be a big mistake to choose just one style and stick with it. I Like having 8 to 10 very different looking jerseys in my closet. I wish they would change every year!

My 1950 kit came today, so I'm in no rush to purchase a new one.

I can't decide if we're the USMNT Crossing Guards or the Miss USMNT Pageant Winners with that sash.

Tradition is good, but our tradition is decidedly modern, and the 1950 England win was an interesting one-off which had no effect or continuity on our soccer tradition or culture. It's a cool trivia question.

My answer is home whites (probably with blue shorts), and away blue or red, modern and simple (modern minimalism, is my vote), and let it grow from there. I don't care if blue and red alternate from time-to-time. I WOULD like to see us ditch the US Soccer patch for something based on that Nike Gadsen Flag logo, because I think it's just so apropos.

    My thoughts exactly.

I would say home whites with white shorts, and away navy with navy shorts, or away red with navy shorts. The white/white is very similar to England's current home configuration, but England normally uses navy shorts at home.

As for the badge, I think the retro US badge is nice, but it doesn't reference soccer at all (not that it has to). The "Don't tread" patch is great, it really does capture the spirit of American soccer.

I like the sash...you don't see much in international soccer and we have a history with it. I don't even mind our crest, but the flying ball has got to go. I personally like the Dont Tread on Me Logo that nike did.

But I agree with the posters here that acknowledge that we need consistency with our uniforms. We can mix it up a bit every once and a while....but you know what Argentinas' jersey will look like before its released...the same can be said of Italy, Germany, Spain...it'll be the same scheme on a new template. Who knows what the US will release? I mean away from those leaked photos.... but it could be a version of the 94' red stripes...or the 94' stars ----Yikes!...Or it cold be something from letfield....ala the charcol jersey.

Lets just pick something and stick with it....

Red, with the Blue and White "sash", best ever. Love that jersey. If I had any say, US Soccer and Nike would make that our signature look. It is friggin awesome.

Re: Anyone know when the USMNT 2009/2010 Kits will be availiable?

I don't think I could disagree more strongly. Belo Horizante is one of the few things that we as a soccer nation can hang our hats on.

Personally, I love the 1950 (as mentioned above, I just got mine in the mail yesterday). Considering we are playing England in the Cup again, I can't think of a better way to connect with what little tradition we have.

And I am 100% opposed to using the DToM logo as our crest. I have enough of a problem with Nike as it is; I don't think I could stomach having one of their corporate gimmicks as the official symbol of our National Team. I think it's fine for fans to latch on to it, but I would almost literally vomit if we sold out that much.

Also, FootballShirtCulture.com posted these yesterday and today. They are what appear to be the base for the Aussie home and away.

Too bad all these tea party bafoons have decided to adopt the DTOM symbol as well. Now everytime I see everyone with a DTOM flag it reminds me of those morons.

Corporate logos usually give me a bit of a shiver, trust me. Nike just happened to hit on something there, something that makes sense, and it's well-designed.

This World Cup seems to be about old Traditions, the past, former past Uniform designs, traditional uniform designs, etc. I was hoping for a Modernized image like Germany 2006. Especially the explosion this World Cup is getting, to promote that the World Cup is the "Hippest" thing in town and attract all young fans in this country to the sport.

Of coarse we got to hope the Vuvuzela fest does not deter everybody from watching after the first game.

I'm well aware of the historical significance of the DToM phrase and the snake. I own two or three flags that might have given me a hint.

The snake wrapped around a soccer ball is 100% a Nike gimimick.

Doesn't necessarily have to have the soccer ball... this one doesn't.
