Canada has games against Mexico on June 12 and 14, so Boyd could miss the June 11 (Washington) and June 14 (Atlanta) games. The June 14 game is the really interesting one because the USA also has a friendly on that date. So on June 14 Carolina could be missing: Boyd Slaton Roberts Atlanta could be missing: Dominguez Hooper Nonen Parlow Scurry Sawa (WWC qualifying) I'd say Carolina should be able to notch a W on the 14'th.
We're 1-5-1 - and you're forgetting Hege Riise. "Should" is pretty strong language. Maybe we will, maybe we won't. But the franchise has only won one game ever without Hege on the field.
Re: Re: National Team Duties I tempered the should with "be able to", as in "have the ability to". All assuming the listed players are released for NT duty. I'm looking forward to Carolina winning some more games sans Riise. After all, other teams do it all the time.

In three years we've only won 1 game without her. The entire offense was designed around her considerable skills. The team and/or coaching staff hasn't figured out how to win (or even pass effectively) without her. Granted, I didn't see the Philly game so I don't know how the midfield passing looked. We did get a point, though.
canadian update hey- according to the lastest CSA press release, seems like the games in mexico has been moved from june 12/14 to june 12/15... this way no WUSA players (if they are called in...) will miss any club games. although i doubt they'll be travelling back and forth and might just play one game depending on their club sched (bre has it the "toughest" amonst all canucks for that wekk...) elaine

Thanks, but did we really need to dredge up a long dead thread? I still haven't figured Boyd out. She's a very good player, but I haven't observed that her presence has helped us win any games or that her absence has seen us lose. Maybe my expectations are too high, afterall this is her rookie season. Not everyone can be a Danielle Slaton the first year. She's a solid, if not spectacular, defender.
Andy, you suffer from mood swings? Actually, Boyd has started every Carolina game this year and has logged the 4'th most minutes ytd. She's also got a couple of big assists, played some strong games for Canada and had a great showing in the All Star game. Pretty good/busy year so far for a rookie.

Playing time doesn't make one "great", just better than the alternative(s). I do, however, think she has great potential. We'll just have to see how her game develops at the pro level. Considering she is a rookie, I'm very impressed.
