Brown's goal was an absurdly easy tap-in from three yards out with the keeper guarding the post. Why did his defender let him walk to that spot alone? A mystery. Terrible play.

GOAL BROWN AGAIN - more attention needed here as we have a dual national left back breaking into the rotation on a good Bundesliga side.

Attack that fed off of punt, great run by Knauff ending with a ball across the 6, where Brown mostly had to not choke on the opportunity. Deflection played it right into Brown's unmarked run to the 6. Goals in two straight matches.

Playing a pretty high LWB today. And EF just went up 3-0.

Respect is due here - give the man an updated thread title -

Assist at the end of a great run by Brown - vertical dribble at speed through midfield and perfectly weighted ball to set up Marmoush, and it's 1-0.

Another assist (though Marmoush did most of the work):

So I’m not as familiar w/ Nene, but I see he represented the German youth national team. Any chance he’d be interested in a call up? Also, any chance Timothy Chandler decides to ride it out one more season at Frankfurt so we could see some YA RWB / LWB action next season? (Personally stoked for the latter).

He's provisionally cap-tied to Germany, so any call-up for a game would require a one-time switch (assuming it's not just a "visit camp and see" call-up). That means he would have to be convinced it makes sense to switch.

With most German-Americans who end up provisionally cap-tied, we usually have to wait out the run. That could mean a couple of years waiting for him to see if he has a chance to be in the German mix. History says that he'll end up with the USMNT eventually (has there been a German-American capped by Germany since Jermaine Jones got his caps?)

When were they capped by the German *senior* team? Plenty of German-Americans have been capped by German youth teams.

I see I missed the point of being capped by the German senior team. Isn't Jones the only one who ever switched?

Of the recent German-Americans, yes. There were perhaps a couple in the earlier days who were capped by Germany -- Erwin Kostedde, Jimmy Hartwig & Felix Magath played in the 1970s or so, but even a youth cap was pretty much permanent in those days.

There were a lot of German-Americans who were in consideration for the German NT, but it's so hard to get a solid chance to contribute that most players are going to end up choosing the US. For now, Brown is on a hot streak and he has to be thinking his chances of playing for the big boys is good. We are going to have to be patient. If he's good enough, he'll play for Germany and there's little we can do about it. If not (nd the odds are in our favor), then he'll play for us.

Just depends on how good and how impatient he is.

He been playing higher up for Frankfurt the past games as a left midfielder/winger with Theate as the LB.

For recruitment purposes, it may not to be exciting to pitch a backup LB role to Jedi but Brown could be a option for us in left midfield/left winger. With Pulisic playing centrally, we could use more quality depth out wide.
