Can any of you give me some info on this kid? How good is he? Is he ready to play in the EPL? Why won't you give him a pro contract? Thanks.
Might be a bit late with this response, but only just seen this thread and will respond anyway. Firstly, it is club policy not to offer any youngster a full-time contract till the end of the season in which they have just turned 17, which is around about now. Boro had wanted to offer him a contract but his parents informed the club that he wasn't interested in staying. Which was largely a result of his agent who has been touting him around to other clubs such as Liverpool, Newcastle and Chelsea which were all caught on tv cameras. As a result, Boro will get pittance when he leaves. As for his ability, well I've only really seen him for England Under 17s and I ain't been impressed. I think he has let the hype get to him, but obviously must be something there for Chelsea and Liverpool to be interested. Finally, he is nowhere near ready for first-team action and if he joins Liverpool which I suspect he will, I can see him rotting in the reserves and leaving to join a lower division club in a few years time.
Tough question. He's not really an out and out winger who will get down the flanks and cross, will try to come inside and use a bit of skill. Suppose, probably someone like Ronaldo, but obviously nowhere near as good. May I ask why your interested in him?
A little update I found on Porritt. Taken from the Daily Mail: Interesting to read the following that he now cannot join Chelsea or Liverpool, which is very suprising as everyone was saying it was Liverpool who he was going to. Also goes on to say that he has signed a professional deal which contradicts what all other sources say, so won't be leaving unless Boro let him do so. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/columnists/columnists.html?in_article_id=460650&in_page_id=1951&ito=newsnow
Fact, his agent is a lying cheating dishonest piece of shit. So anything he says should be taken with a pinch of salt.
