Yes that's about right. I forget who but I recall in the late 80's & 90's some of the Warriors who were traded to the Kings would continue to live in the Oakland Hills, Danville and Emeryville would and drive Highway 80 back and forth to practice and games. I guess at the time, they considered the East Bay Areas a lot more ritzy than Sac.
Hell, Whitey Herzog continued to live in suburban Kansas City (Independence if I remember) when he was coaching the Saint Louis Cardinals.
Looks like Rocco caved... New York Cosmos joins NISA Breaking: @NYCosmos have submitted an application to join @NISALeague, per sources close to the situation— Chris Kivlehan (@kivlehan) October 31, 2019
It is all unfolding just as Danny Szetela foretold. Because as he explained to everyone, USSF and MLS are engaging in a conspiracy to keep him out of the league. So I'm guessing theres been a payoff of some kind which is why Rocco is asking to sign on with NISA. If only Twellman, Holden, Galarcep et al would sit down with him and let him explain it. Sadly, they're obviously in it too.
Can confirm Chris' reporting. Told Cosmos will make a presentation to the @NISALeague board in Mid-November. The board can make an immediate decision to accept/deny Cosmos' application. If accepted, the application then goes through @ussoccer 's vetting process. https://t.co/sayu5N6W0k— Nipun Chopra, PhD (@NipunChopra7) October 31, 2019 As this would probably go through, I can't wait for the USSF/SUM/MLS astroturfing conspiracy campaign justifying this. Rocco might be Columbia educated, but that doesn't mean he has the higher ground, we know his past remarks on USSF and MLS.
I mean it’s in USSF’s best interest to give Rocco more rope to hang himself... again. Does nothing but undermine his lawsuit.
I don’t NISA has anything to worry about. USSF won’t punish them. They’re probably loving the fact that this would hurt Rocco’s lawsuit a bit. The antitrust lawsuit. I am told there are some in NISA who worry admitting the Cosmos will lead to retribution from USSF. This will likely be the primary reason for any "no" vote on the Cosmos at NISA BoG. Similarly, USL would be even less likely to take on the Cosmos right now https://t.co/oc9Un1mKcR— Chris Kivlehan (@kivlehan) November 1, 2019
The photo was taken at a Chattanooga FC match at Finley Stadium. * Volkswagen is Charlotte FC's jersey sponsor and you can just make out a portion of a white VW logo on the navy blue jersey worn by the bearded gentleman on the lefthand side of the photo. * The shirts worn by both of the women in the center foreground of the photo appear to be emblazoned with Chattanooga FC's primary crest. * Compare the patterns adorning the face of the press box/luxury boxes (a blue stripe broken by pairs of blue squares) and the wall along the sideline (eight rows of dark red bricks, then a row of lighter red bricks) of the stadium in the photo from Egbert Sousé's post to the details in this photo taken at Chattanooga's Finley Stadium... ... and it's quite clear that it is the same facility.
“From what I heard — I didn’t speak to them personally — is that they might have a lot of problems with them getting Division Three if they let the Cosmos in,” Commisso said. “I heard it from some of our people that are in touch with the situation. U.S. Soccer is just putting stumbling blocks in front of us.” He later added: “If they don’t let the Cosmos play, what can I do?”
I mean all of this is predicated on NISA surviving the winter, which frankly given the paltry response to all but two of their teams seems very unlikely.
I find it funny that Silva, Commisso, & and Palmer all might be in NISA. Really proves their argument that it was unsustainable for their teams to play in a D3 league was complete bs.
