It would be exactly what Atlanta Silverbacks did a few years ago. I could have seen the Cosmos do this as well as Indy ... it's not ideal, but keeps them alive just in case something develops. It's obviously not good, but it's "an option" ... and since Atlanta did it, it's not a crazy option either.
You mean fold? The NASL Silverbacks folded after 2015. The team with that name now in NASL was the NASL team's reserve team.
From what I've seen in other venues, Rayo feels that they were deceived by the OKC part of their ownership group, both in regards to the market being able to support 2 clubs and the OKC contingent's competency, and feel that if they can get a club in another city, they'll be able to do much better.. So, while OKC might not be negotiating to join USL, it is possible for Rayo to be negotiating.
You think Rayo would be more concerned with their LaLiga team. This reminds me of the California Victory all over again.
They seem to think that having a development team in the US would be beneficial to their LaLiga team.
FC Edmonton makes perfect sense because Fath has a whack of Class B shares in NASL. If NASL goes down, how is he going to recoup his investment?
That's boring ... Like I said, "a reach". Why not bullshit about it on BS? If you don't like it, move along.
So let's see: - one team who owns the minority shares of the NASL (Fath at FcEd); the Brand and two/three teams that are going under. Powerhouse. So doesn't that mean clubs like Miami FC and Puerto Rico have given up or they are negotiating with USL?
Well since that's the list of teams not negotiating with USL, I'd presume the rest are negotiating with USL, which would include Miami.
Because that's not the purpose of the ********ing community, that's why. Just because "bullshitting about it on BS" has become de rigueur does not mean it's healthy for the community. This is how bullshit becomes accepted fact.
San Francisco and San Jose are far more different from each other culturally, geographically and in terms of drawing fans consistently than two parts of Miami - both of which are between I-95 and the Everglades - are. Also, if the Deltas do join USL I suspect it's a matter of time before they become the Quakes' reserve team. I don't know what Peter Wilt did to become persona non grata with MLS owners. I'd personally love to have him involved with an MLS team. But as bad as the Fire have become since he left, the idea that another pro (non-MLS) team will survive in Chicago is ludicrous, even if said team is in a better location than the Fire's stadium (a location chosen by.... Peter Wilt.) An NASL team in Chicago was always a dubious idea. A USL team there (not affiliated with the Fire) makes even less sense.
There would be absolutely zero point in that. Their owner created a professional team and the market won't give a shit about an NPSL team.
That happened a few years ago, I sort had an idea that the time was going to be short for the NASL when I saw that. But to be fair, maybe NASL wanted someone from traffic on the board and the USSF smartly said hells no. Also I don't think NWSL has a rep on the board (I think they should)
I guess I didn't realize speculation was frowned upon in this very formal and fact checking "community".
I wouldn't put it past the Miami owners to want to join the USL, I think Nesta recently made some comments like Beckham Miami would be welcomed by him and his people. So I wouldn't be shocked if some partnership with MLS Miami happens and they join. PR is a wildcard but I think they'll join since Melo would lose a lot of money if they went the semi-pro PR league route.
Did I say it worked out well for them? Did the Silverbacks not continue on as a NPSL team? They couldn't keep dumping money into their professional club, so they bailed on it and turned their Silverbacks U23 into the "Silverbacks" ... which could be done for the Cosmos ... or Indy XI (although we don't know if they're failing financially ... but I don't think we all think they're printing money either).
Considering the money Nesta and Co have spent so far why not keep going and see what happens with this whole Becks/MLS thing.
I wouldn't assume this. If Quakes are happy with Reno and Deltas want to be similar to Sacramento and have "bigger ambitions" then there's no move to be done.
