If the report is true, I'm hoping the CSA uses Ottawa as leverage to get the USL to accept Edmonton also, assuming Fath is willing to play ball.
I'd be surprised if USL takes Miami FC unless it A) agrees to relocate or B) agrees to be a reserve team for a Miami MLS club.
Interesting.. I wonder what Indy is thinking.. They have a pretty viable club... I know they complained about USL playing hardball in negotiations, but to not be talking to them at this point may mean they are headed to oblivion..
I can see Edmonton just putting things in storage for a year and hoping that the long-rumored Canadian "Premier" League begins play in 2018.
Would be suicide for the Eleven to choose death or suspending operations over joining the USL from a PR perspective.
When USL gets D2 and the rest of NASL has negotiated to get into the league ... IndyXI's "negotiation power" if there ever was any ... is completely vapor. Do they drop to NPSL?
Seems an insane hill for Indy to die on. I mean of the NASL teams they're easily the best positioned. But what good is being a solid team when you've got no league? Because it looks like they'd be the only ones left since their fellow hold outs aren't exactly in good shape. Plus 4 teams does not really make a league presuming NYC and Ft. Lauderdale find a way to survive.
It just doesn't seem plausible. OKC not negotiating, or USL not negotiating with them, seems much more logical given the 2 lists of 4 teams not negotiating.
Is it possible that the owners or FC Cincy or Louisville or others in the area know Indy XI's owner and don't like the way he does business so they're making it EXTREMELY hard for him to enter ... or hoping he goes away and someone they work better with pops up and "saves" Indy professional soccer and gets into USL in 2018 or something?? That's a reach, but you never know. People with this amount of money know others with this amount of money and likely have opinions.
A Miami FC in USL would be one way to put pressure on Beckham United to get their shit together maybe, lol.
They have the most leverage of any NASL team. I sure as hell would want them if I was USL, and if I was Indy I would try to squeeze any concession out of it I could. This isn't like the Cosmos screwing Gio over.
If you're ok with the SF Deltas somewhat close to the SJ Earthquakes market ... why not Miami FC in a different part of town than a MLS Miami team. It would also leave the door open to Peter Wilt's Chicago expansion too. Anything to put some pressure on existing MLS teams may be a good thing for MLS itself.
Huh? The real brand. The only brand that matters! The one ring of brands! Just put a sticker on a chair and let it speak for itself.
Because people don't seem to understand this is a visualization of what going from NASL to NPSL would be...
I brought it up if Indy XI's owner wanted to keep a team on the field in a non USL league ... NPSL would be a "fit". He could still pay some players and sell some tickets.
